Default SCOTUS v Obamacare

By thursday we should know how the Supreme Court voted on obamacare. Does anyone here think it will stand up to constitutional scrutiny?

It will be 7-2 striking the individual mandate. Kagan and Ginsburg will be in the minority. Roberts will write a very well reasoned majority opinion. At least 5 other justices will write opinions.

I predict a 6-3 decision finding the individual mandate unconstitutional. The question is, will at least 5 justices find that the mandate is essential to the entire bill and strike down the whole thing? I think they will. But, even if they don't B.O.'s healthcare scheme can't survive without it.

I can only say I hope and pray it does. If not the first half of Obama's next term will be spent on new health care legislation. And we need to get to some other things. But it is very important that health care be dealt with. People are not being served.

The only thing I know for sure is that Thomas will do whatever Scalia tells him to do.

You mean like the way that Thurgood Marshall did exactly what Brennan and Warren told him to do?

I can't see how they could possibly find it constitutional to force everyone to purchase a specific private sector product or be fined just for living. If they do find it constitutional, then I dread the future of this country. There would be few limits to the power of a government that can make you buy whatever the **** they want to make you buy. It infuriates and disgusts me that there are actually people in this country who think that's a good idea.
