Actually, believe it or not, I was a youth counselor in my youth group. I also taught Sunday school and youth bible studies.

What I believed then, and what I believe now are two very different things.

I have also been to many different churches, in a few states... when I became disenchanted with my church I wanted to see if maybe it wasn't my faith, but my surroundings that were the problem.

Personally I don't think I have been disrespectful to you or IP at all. I have every right to voice my opinion, as you have yours. Don't like it, don't read it. As far as I know the two of you are exemplary Christians. If so congratulations, that is a very very hard thing to do in this life.

I also pointed out in simple terms that the word Cult is a correct word to use by definition.

I never said all Christians are hypocrites, I did say that most are. If all the people that claimed to be Christian acted like the man they claimed to follow, our world would be a much better, and more peaceful place.

I think the idea of church is good for many people, however, I think that the various churches have gone from a place of fellowship and worship, to a place of business. As soon as it becomes "organized", corruption falls in.

Faith is wonderful. Expressions of faith are great. It just seems to me that you all are too sensitive about a simple word.

I was not sensitive at all but agreed that Christianity could be called a cult. I only said I would take exception if it was meant derogatorily.(spelling?)
And I only commented that you might have a skewed view of Christians for whatever reasons. Only you would know that. My experiences with people who call themselves Christians has been very positive.

I was just being a facetious brat but thanks for your sincere answer. Believe it or not, I wanted to go into the priesthood when I was younger. As I got a bit older and circumstances changed, I moved away from that idea and pursued a classical education that allowed me to study religion in an academic context rather than a spiritual one. That worked out perfectly, I think.

As the whole premis of this cult is based on a work of fiction, I see no difference theologically between it and any other world religion. The differences in my mind are credibility, as with this one we actually Know who the author was, and can shake our collective heads with confidence when they ask to be taken seriously.

It's a bad joke, that the feeble minded just done get...not even the punch line.
