I've read most of your arguments here and they are all pretty well put forth. Gives me a lot to ponder.
I plan on voting for John McCain unless something drastic happens to change my mind. But let's say I had to vote for Hillary or Obama. My beliefs are that the war is not an over night bring the troops home game. That would put me more in Hillary's camp of the two since she is more aware of foreign policy and has voiced in so many words that the war is a little more complicated than Obama suggests. I think she's right. I believe abortion in the last trimester is murder (and partial birth without question).Neither of the candidates see eye to eye with me on that one. I am aware the president cannot directly change abortion laws, but there are those pesky SC nominees to consider. So we'll just have to skip that one. I wish with all my heart that Bobby Kennedy had been president of the US. And Obama at times reminds me of him. Also Senator Edward Kennedy has endorsed him and I have always had the utmost respect for Sen. Kennedy due to his feirce tennacity on the floor of the senate. Some times I disagreed with him, but respect his intellect and fortitude. I also have high regard for Bill Richardson and may have voted for him as prez, but even if he is chosen as vice prez, Obama would be the one calling the shots. I like Hillary's idea of expanding the government workers heath coverage. I worked as a government employee for a time and we were insured by all the major companies. We had a wide variety in fact to choose from. We were a large pool and got a generous discount. I think all Americans deserve the same as any government employee when it comes to health care. Over all I think Hillary or McCain would make a fine president. I just lean more toward McCain because of the importance of the fight with terrorism and the fact he may appoint some less extremely liberal judges. So my vote in this pole is for Senator Clinton. This is sloppily written. I am sleepy. G' nite all. ![]()

Some of our greatest Presidents had very little experience. First and foremost, they should have the ability to lead the nation. They must also have a knack for delegating authority and surrounding themselves with highly capable people who have experience in crucial areas of government. Not all decisions are made on a purely cerebral basis. Intelligence certainly matters but some of our most intelligent Presidents where not always the best leaders!
Do the people always select the best man or women for POTUS? certainly not but this is the system we cherish and defend.I am not at all happy or energized by the candidates we have to choose from. Eventually,I will make a decision, hopefuly before November. I have private reasons for selecting Obama over Hillary. Obama is not my cup of tea but I would select him over Hillary when given no other choice in this poll.As I said months ago, their's something about Obama that I cannot just ignore. He does seem genuinely concerned with our future and this is not to say the other candidates are not. Obama does have more experience than Abe Lincoln had at the time.More than half the nation had no idea what Abe even looked like when they voted for him.Would they have voted for him with his lack of experience and less than glamorous facial features? We can only speculate on that but many believed Abe with his lack of experience was one of our greatest Presidents. Is Obama the black Lincoln? Who knows..is he honest like Abe? Is a politician ever truly honest? No..it's the nature of the game. Even Abe was accused by Douglas of changing his rhetoric depending on the town he campaigned in! In many ways,Obama is far too liberal for me. I do have a hint of liberal in me and I am not ashamed to admit it. Not everything is black or white or if you will..as simple as selecting between Red and Blue!

Now you are just being silly. He's a man, a good and impressive man, but just a man.
And none of us godless liberal heathens would EVER vote for Christ for president... we still believe in the separation of church and state, you know. |
