Thank you for making my point.

.
Tsk, tsk. What I wrote in response to your comment was that I have expectations about what the Dear Leader will say. If his speech fulfills my expectations, nothing new, more spending on failed stimulus programs. Then yes, I have dared to think about these issues, unlike the Dear Leader. If Obama defies my expectations say by proposing to cut corporate taxes or rolling back Obamacare and Dodd/Frank, then I'll be surprised but accepting.

What do you expect that this will result in?

I have an open mind yet the choice of just watching it wasn't there. So I picked the one I think will be the result yet hope if it doesn't upset the "R's" and the market doesn't start to drop like a lead weight.

We might just have an opening that both parties might be able to find common ground.. Here is to hope... and not a even before he speaks.

Experience tells us that his plans are just a realisitc and likely to come to fruition as the one you describe, no?

If Obama's jobs speech goes as expected, huge new spending spending programs with vague objectives and characterizations of opponents as uncaring corporatists, it will only add to the rancor. The entire enterprise appears to be one of political positioning, the Administration has very little chance of turning the economy around in time for the election so they will attempt to afix blame on Republicans for the mess.

Instead of anticipating and listening to the speech with an open mind, there are "expectations" already in place.
Prior history is usually a good indicator of future performance in humans. Not to say that people can't and don't change, but it's the exception rather than the rule. Obama's history, coupled with his ideology, doesn't lead me to expect much besides more of the same.

If anyone would take the time, I'm sure they'd be able to take EVERY sentence Obama will say and point to anytime in the last 2+ years where he's said the exact same thing...Most of them will be multiple occasions...

While you are correct that expectations are that the "Right" will view the speech as a time-waster and the "Left" will consider it the greatest speech he's ever made (until the next speech), one thing is clear...

He will say nothing NEW...
Learn, adjust, adapt. I believe the president is capable and willing to do this. It will come as a huge surprise and disappointment if he simply repeats exactly what he's been saying for the past 3 years. Some ideas will be similar. Every idea hasn't been bad or a failure.
