Default What is the BIGGEST issue concerning your vote in the 2008 elections?

Personally, I believe voting for a candidate BASED on one issue is stupid...especially when that one issue is a social one...

But an issue IS influential in a person's decision...

So what is "the big one" in your eyes?...

I voted terrorism for what should be obvious reasons. Immigration is related to the WoT so those are my two main issues. I'm not a single issue voter but terrorism is my "biggest" issue. Ultimatly, the candidate I select must have a good grasp on Global Jihad and the ramifications that this threat represents.

I'm not going to lie... I voted gay rights. Not because I think it is the most important issue, but because I think it is the deciding issue.

I have great confidence that the nominee from each party will combat terrorism and provide secure borders. I'm sure that both will work diligently to keep a quality economy. So it boils down to the gay issue. And I'm not even out there saying that they must support gay marriage, but they must at LEAST be opposed to the federal amendment.

I vote more for the person than for the issues because the right person will have much the same ideas on the issues as I do. I evaluate them on how they deal with issues and people and on what I judge of their intelligence, capabilities, and a lot on how much I can trust them to be consistent and clear but willing to listen and answer. Also realizing that some questions should NOT be answered because many "can't handle the truth".

Right now a few are "on my radar" but still being evaluated.

Economy. A failure in the economy like 1929 would harm more people then Terror. And it will effect our ability to fight terrorism.

If the terorists manage to deploy a dirty bomb or two,the state of the economy will be our last concern.

Right off hand, I would think that a continuation of this theme would be that we really need to secure our borders

with Canada.

The Canadian multiculturalist approach of mollycoddling radical Islam will result in the place resembling the U.K. in the near future, and since radical Islam already has a foothold in Detroit/Dearborn and Minneapolis, I would be especially concerned with travel between these points and Canada.

I chose other...

Secure our border which encompasses WoT & illegal immigration.
I also believe a Reaganesque rebuilding of our military is right up there as well. I heard some candidates talking about adding a 100,000 troops or so --- we should triple the size of our military.

I'm not so optimistic to believe that every candidate running wants to secure our borders or even understands the threat of terror. Clearly some of them don't.

As far as the economy --- just get out of the way.

That's always been my position as far as the economy goes...

The president has about 2% to do with the markets...

...if that...

and in the case of the current president's father, that figure may be even lower. I can still remember his befuddlement when asked the price of a loaf of bread.

He evidently didn't spend much time in the market at all........
