From a purely objective standpoint, something does need to be done about healthcare in this country. It's damned near impossible to run a business anymore because people look for health benefits and to offer them means subjecting yourself to possible 300% increases in the cost every two years or so. That's outlandish.

So what are new taxes going to do for businesses except drive them deeper into the red and cut more jobs. :

What's gonna happen here if this healthcare overhaul passes the way it is, is that every other area of the economy is going to suffer. More people without jobs, more businesses closing their doors, and lower tax revenues as a result.

But hey...if I twist my ankle shuffling through the unemployment line with the rest of America, at least I can wait 6 months to see a doctor over it.

In number 8, as I understand it providers are making a little extra money off the Advantage program? If I am reading it correctly, although it isn't fair to those who have Advantage, sounds like the providers have figured that in their budget and will have to re figure after the bill passes (if it does) the Senate.

And in number 10---I hope they do something about the cost of COBRA, as I know very few people who have been able to afford it.

But the rest of it makes me want to weep when I think if it had been in place for myself and many friends and family members over the years. A lot of full blown chronic illnesses could have been avoided or their effects greatly reduced by just these interim changes.
