Actually Newt Gingrich cut taxes and Clinton could do nothing but go along with it.

Actually, that's bs. It was during this time that the Congress had given him line-item veto... In addition Clinton opted to shut down the government when it didn't work out to the People's favor. Many believe that Newt was just being petty. Surprise surprise.

What....WHAT?....WHAT?!?!?!...

Quote:
The momentum of the Republican Revolution stalled in late 1995 and early 1996 as a result of a budget fight between Congressional Republicans and President Bill Clinton. Speaker Gingrich and the new Republican majority wanted deep cuts to government spending, which Clinton flatly rejected. Without enough votes to override President Clinton's veto, Gingrich led the Republicans not to submit a revised budget, allowing the previously approved appropriations to expire on schedule, and causing parts of the Federal government to shut down for lack of funds.
It is WIDELY known that Gingrich shut down the government...AND it destroyed him politically...

Now you decide that NOT ONLY Clinton did it instead of Newt, you also declare it was a good thing?!?!...

Instead of Wiki, How about something a bit more credible.

CNN - Government shutdown II - Dec. 18, 1995
CNN - Government Shutdown - Nov. 11, 1995
http://www.rules.house.gov/Archives/98-844.pdf
frontline: the clinton years: nightline transcript: government shutdown battle | PBS

The American public blames the Congress for the shutdown and praises Clinton for ensuring we paid for our promises. Something the Republican controlled Congress wasn't going to do. They weren't just cutting the normal "God hates Welfare" type programs... They were cutting VETERANS programs... Clinton found this to be unacceptable and vetoed it.

Something GWB hasn't had the nuts to do.
And the rich did VERY WELL under Clinton as well.
Back Talk: The Rich Were Better Off Under Clinton Than Bush

This whole "the sky is going to fall if Obama touches taxes, but let McCain cater to the rich and we'll all do fine" crap is b.s.
Fear-mongering at its worst.

Reality check time!
When the economy started looking bad, and the government started in with a "stimulus" package to help correct things, did they:
a) Adopt a plan to utilize "trickle down economics"? or
b) Adopt a plan to utilize the spending power of the common man?

There's the phrase "there are no atheists in fox-holes"...
When it comes to economic recessions, how many republicans byatch that we aren't pushing "trickle down" hard enough???

For a comparative view of their tax plans:
http://www.politicalwrinkles.com/pol...html#post39266

In short, their tax plans (dollar wise) look similar as to affect on people and both fall short of projected budgeting. Also it's the same old 20 percent that get the breaks under (you know who) a certain plan.
But look at it for yourself.
