Default I think the Republicans just finished their chances

I was a little concerned about the effect of Palin. But now I think that they really messed up. The reason John McCain and Barack Obama led their party's nominations is because of something I have been saying the whole time. Ask Spencer. Its because people are tired of the attacking. They are tired of partisan sniping. And lying.
Now you think that attacking and sniping is a good thing. But I feel more confident then ever that you guys are toast. This change idea hasn't lost its steam. McCain and Palin hope that people will do the same old shit. I think they have played all their cards now. They have played the war record, The new girl, Whats left. It looks as though the the rest of the strategy is replacing attacking the media with answering questions truthfully. She likes to attack community organizers? Why? They work hard.
If there was some fear that McCain was a reformer the lobbyists would be against him. But its the opposite. Why would that be? They know these people better then you or I.

That's right, people are tired of the attacking and they want change! So much so that they are willing to take a "chance" on less experienced candidates.Today's run of the mill "partisan rhetoric" is creating more independent voters who's vote must be earned and not taken for granted..they have had enough..

There is absolutely NOTHING in the last 3 days that proves your assertion...

As we've seen from the "mainstream media" recently, "attacking" is the theme du jour, and as long as their ad revenues don't decrease (which they won't), it will continue...

Many hate their heroin addiction AFTER they've consumed the amount that got them high in the first place...and then they'll do it again soonafter...

You realize that to those of us who disagree with you that your entire post reads like this:

Ha Ha seriously I have said where I stand. So I am confident that McCain will lose. I can tell how things are going. The right has cornered themselves on this pick. Bad strategy.

I do indeed think she solidifies the support from conservatives, and that as they get to know her, she will be more appealing. The question is if she will be able to sway undecided voters and Hillary supporters. I don't think her ultra conservative views will be very appealing to Hillary supporters. As far as undecided voters, Biden has just as much of a chance of swaying them towards the Dem ticket. We'll see come November. I think it'll be very close.

I thought this was funny. If McCain got who he really wanted, what a boring convention.
If Rove got his pick, history might have been very different. What does the future hold? Will PM become the winning team? If so it was all over a fluke. Stranger things have been known to happen in and out of politics.

Quote:

Why did John McCain select Sarah Palin as his running mate? The real reason is that he made an impulsive decision to prove his independence in reaction to pressure from Karl Rove, who was lobbying for Mitt Romney, as I explain in a forum on Firedoglake.com on my new book, The Strange Death of Republican America: Chronicles of a Collapsing Party.

I explain the inside story, according to sources close to the McCain campaign:

On Palin: My information is that Karl Rove wanted Romney and pushed him. McCain pushed back. He really wanted Lieberman. That was completely out of the question. Palin is the result. One element of the Palin nomination is McCain establishing himself apart from the Bush/Rove political operation, even as his campaign manager, Steve Schmidt, is one of their creatures. From the outside, it's often hard to figure out how vicious and divided the Republicans can be with each other.

I further explain that McCain rationalized his hasty choice as an appeal to the Republican base:

On McCain and the GOP base: Conventions are real tests of party unity, as we've just seen with the Democrats. McCain still has to pass the test through his own convention. Palin, among other things, enables him to bring along the social conservatives, or it ought to do so. Once McCain receives the nomination he is freer to move to the center. He is already campaigning more as a "maverick" and behind the scenes he is in some conflict with both Bush and Rove on policy and politics. If we had a sensate political press corps they might report on these abrasions.

Sidney Blumenthal: Why Palin? McCain v. Rove
Looks like McCain's final answer was the shot in the arm the GOP needed. Resisting the old machine isn't easy, but I think this old dog can fight.
And that is why I originally considered John McCain.
