Well, Mikeyy, that explanation doesn't make sense. He was wrong to assume that I could actually vote for Reid or Pelosi, seeing that this is a forum, and I could hail from anywhere.

As for oil -hell yes it makes us sick! I wish you could have breathed some air that wasn't polluted. Maybe you wouldn't have this all wrong.
Live near a refinery for a year. See if you don't break out in a rash, get bad headaches, frequent conjunctivitis. Better yet, drink the water near a refinery.
Bet you don't let your dog drink out of a nearby ditch.
Yes. Coal makes us sick. And so does the oil refining process.
I post an editorial I've recently read as a rebuttal to your statement "Yes. Coal makes us sick. And so does the oil refining process."...

Quote:
Funny thing about coal and oil. Before they began transforming Americans' everyday lives by providing electricity and transport that didn't require a horse, average citizens trudged though life with mouths half-full of teeth, fortunate to live past age 40. Far from making us sick, they've powered advances that have extended the country's collective life expectancy to about 80, helped eliminate hard-core poverty and made us the wealthiest nation in the history of the planet.

Today, coal still provides half the country's electricity -- power that allows Las Vegas air conditioners to run 24 hours per day during the soul-searing heat of July, power that lets partygoers enjoy the city's luxuries at all times. And how did they -- and the foodstuffs they ate for breakfast -- get to this otherwise uninhabitable tourist outpost? They drove or flew here on a tank of fossil fuel.
In other words, it's simply foolish to say something makes you sick for 5 reasons when without it the reasons for being sick skyrocket into the hundreds...

It's like saying a vaccine which will save 10,000 lives will kill 15, so we shouldn't do it...

Exclamation Re: Harry Reid Says "Coal Makes Us Sick"

Only Harry Reid would say something so out of this world ignorant:

The one thing we fail to talk about is those costs that you don’t see on the bottom line. That is coal makes us sick, oil makes us sick; it’s global warming. It’s ruining our country, it’s ruining our world. We’ve got to stop using fossil fuel.”

The guy is a walking billboard of hyperbole.

“The war is lost“

“This flu is going to strike us all, me, my children, my grandchildren; and if they get it, half of them are going to die unless we do something to stop it“

“I’m sure his dad gave him a pat on the back, but it’s a back pat he’s going to regret.” (On Bush selecting Cheney as his VP in 2000)

“The Iraqi war is hopeless and the situation in Iraq is same as it was in Vietnam.”

And so on….the man is an embarrassment to the Senate and the Democrat party. When we have an alternative to fossil fuels that is cost effective and won’t destroy our economy then I’m sure we all would be happy to switch over. But until then just friggin drill.

Members of Congress have been questioning witnesses and pounding podiums for the news cameras, but they have done nothing to increase American oil production by even one single barrel. Families are paying the price of Washington’s willful refusal to do what we all know must be done. American taxpayers own the federal lands, and they own the vast energy resources that lie beneath them too. If the federal government continues to withhold these supplies, how is it any different from OPEC?

The only thing the Democrats have done over the last 30 years of denying our country to ability to drill is made us dependent on other countries for our survival. Its ludicrous to think we have all this oil under our own feet but can’t get it our because of some spotted frog or other such nonsense.

And instead of talking about that Harry Reid embarrasses himself with “the world is lost” kind of crapola.

Get a grip Senator.

I have one thing to say...Remember the Exxon Valdez?
Oil is not the answer...it was never supposed to be...using it is ruining The Earth....and last time I checked, we only have "one Earth". You don't poo poo, where you eat (and live)

Just a little clue, the message wasn't strictly limited to you, but to all Dems. If you want them out, campaign for thier opposition. Send a donation to the guy/gal running against them.
