Post Fox News Calls Michelle "Obama's Baby Mama"... FOX: Producer Used Poor Judgment

An alert reader wrote in just a little while ago to let us know about something he'd spotted on Fox News Wednesday afternoon. During a segment discussing conservative attacks against Michelle Obama, the wife of presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama, the network described the former as "Obama's baby mama."

I checked, and sure enough, as you can see below, our e-mailer was right. In fact, that description was displayed on screen several times during the segment, which featured anchor Megyn Kelly and conservative blogger Michelle Malkin, an FNC contributor.

This on top of that patently idiotic "terrorist fist jab" comment. Great "News".
Fox "News". Sinking to new lows in political mud-slinging...

Anybody in the class want to tell me why the country is increasingly fed up with the Republican party and voting them out in elections that should have been a slam-dunk for Republicans?

Anybody in the class want to tell me where our "moral values" are going to when it's evidently perfectly okay for Ann Coulter to call people "fag", and Fox News denigrates a marriage with a racial slur?

No wonder people want change.

Because of several factors.
One, just like some "Republican" pundits have said, the Republican brand is toxic. Someone said if "Republicanism" were "dog food", it wouldn't be stocked on store shelves.(paraphrased)
Two, a segment of the population would rather consume Draino, than to have a "black " president.
Some people are unwilling to give up their cushy positions, status, their "licks", or share power...and they will fight "tooth and nail", in order to preserve the status quo....
I don't want any news organization "in bed" with government. How'd that happen, because surely, the Bush administration has been in bed with the media from day one....they let him and his cronies get away with worse than murder. How'd that happen?
Hell, the Republican Party never held Bush to accountability...they gave him free rein (and reign), which led to the leaking of classified documentation for political reasons and gain, and character assassinations and indictments of "anti-Americanism" for opponents of the war. Where'd the common sense go?
Well it went the way of the dodo....it's practically non-existent.
Now, anything goes. Anything. Nothing surprises anymore..that's the depth of the lows...and what's baffling is there is no condemnation, really. No shame for unspeakable acts. It's The Twilight Zone.

Since it was a segment with Michelle Malkin, I went to her site to see i she had anything on it...

The Obama “baby mama” drama

Quote:
Breathe a bad word about Michelle Obama and you’ll be cast into the fiery bowels of hell, says Reverend Dick Durbin.

Here’s my hell-baiting Fox segment on Michelle earlier this afternoon.

Quick correction: In the segment, I mention Salon as having published criticism of Mrs. O. I meant Slate. Got my left-wing websites mixed up. My apologies and thanks to Alex Koppelman of Salon for pointing out the error.

I’m sure Salon will make sure everyone knows that they aren’t going to burn with the rest of us.

***

Update: Salon is in high dudgeon over a caption that Fox ran during my segment referring to Michelle Obama as Obama’s “baby mama.”

I did not write the caption and I was not aware of it when it ran (the Baltimore studio doesn’t have a monitor). I don’t know if the caption writer was making a lame attempt to be hip, clueless about the original etymology of the phrase, or both. But I do know that it was Michelle Obama herself who referred to Barack as her “baby’s daddy” and has used the phrase “baby daddy” to describe Barack while on the stump this year.

What a repugnant excuse.

The transcript's EXACT quote is: "MICHELLE OBAMA, WIFE OF BARACK OBAMA: My baby's daddy Barack Obama. Yeah!"

"Baby Mama" is a specific phrase with a specific meaning that is in no way similar to what Michelle said in that quote.
baby mama
The mother of your child(ren), whom you did not marry and with whom you are not currently involved.
Urban Dictionary: baby mama

And does anybody seriously think that Fox "innocently" took a quote from Michelle, and with sincere respect just used a slang modification of what Michelle said???

These people should at least have the cajones to admit they are being disrespectful.
And people want to criticize presidential candidates for not appearing on Fox???
I think it's just a matter of good taste.

It would make more sense if Fox had an actual quote...

Remember, the tagline doesn't JUST say "Obama's Baby Mama"...It says "Outraged Liberals: Stop Picking On Obama's Baby Mama"...That comes across to me that they have source and they're quoting "outraged liberals" who actually said that...

So DID someone actually say that?...Fox would've been a lot wiser to show that someone did if it's true...

Since Malkin's first reaction was to NOT offer THAT quote (from the "liberal"), but instead try to misrepresent Michelle's statement on Barack being her baby's daddy, it would lean more towards Fox not having any such quote.

Furthermore, suppose 100 liberals complained "you should stop attacking Michelle". And one liberal complained "You should stop attacking %@#$ Michelle".
Doesn't it destroy one's own integrity to choose the profane quote over the many more examples of rational quotes?

If Fox doesn't try to give any such quote, their silence will speak volumes of their duplicity...

Michelle could NOT have offered a quote...

As she stated...

So she was in the dark as well...

I think she lost her non-involvement status when she tried to justify the "baby mama" quote by offering up Michelle Obama's words: "My baby's daddy Barack Obama. Yeah!"

Obviously, she WAS interested in "offering a quote"...

You are too kind. This incident is of the same ilk as when Brush Lintball used to play "The Boll Weevil Song" for the intro whenever he played an audio of Jessie Jackson.

It is despicable and I only say that because I can't think of a stronger word
Quote:
deserving to be despised : so worthless or obnoxious as to rouse moral indignation
synonyms see contemptible
Hell yes everybody knows the connotations of the phrase "baby mama"!
I bet people in Abu Dhabi know what the hell it means.
It means "she a ho".
How 'bout we type some letters underneath Barbara Bush's story/picture like the one under the fox "report"? I happen to have a great respect for Barbara Bush. But that person who- for whatever reason- put this phrase beneath a potential First Lady's name or story would have been sought out with deftness that would cut like a scimitar through the air and found and summarily dismissed. Everyone would think such a person loony at best.

I do not intend to vote for Obama. He holds views I cannot abide and I think someone else would be better for the country and my personal view of things.
But this is why in recent years I have never gone full blown Republican, and as long as that party upholds this kind of crup, I never will.

Fox is a news outlet...not a party...yet you blame the party anyway...
