We already have a great employer verification system; most employers can verify your legal status and your work history before you finish filling out your application.
What we need is employers going to prison for hiring illegals, and convictions under the RICO organized crime statutes. |

"We find it particularly inappropriate to label a governmental entity 'injured in its property' when it spends money on the provision of additional public services," Tashima wrote, "given that those services are based on legislative mandates and are intended to further the public interest."Law.com - 9th Circuit: County Can't Use RICO to Sue Companies for Hiring Illegal Aliens The 9th Circuit's ruling will have an impact beyond illegal immigration, said Marie Yeates, the Houston-based chief of Vinson & Elkins' appellate practice who represented defendant Swift Beef Co. The court goes much further than any other circuit in holding that municipalities can't sue over the cost of providing services for any reason. "None of those suits pass muster under RICO," Yeates said. Four companies were sued, one of which employed an executive who held seminars on how to secure an illegal I.D. and apply for government benefits! The thing is, Canyon county was out gunned. The Swift meat packers hired a prestigious law firm out of Houston, while all three other companies had deep enough pockets to do themselves "justice". I doubt Canyon county has the money to pursue this further. It's not that you can't fight city hall anymore. It's more like city hall can't put up a fight on limited funds. ![]()

I agree with your idea of making the ones who do ignore the proper way to check their employees. But like here in KS. our immigration bill failed because theRepublicans and the other groups opposed to any controls took the teeth out of a very good bill. Including any need for any business to use what has worked. So no we don't have a real way to enforce this as of yet. It has to come form the Fed govt and made law for each state. Below is the results after twice being worked over to delute its ability to work. ![]()

(c) Information Sharing With the Department of Homeland Security-
(1) Not later than 180 days following the date of enactment of this act, the Commissioner of Social Security shall promulgate regulations in accord with section 1306, title 42 (42 U.S.C. 1306), to require that information regarding all unresolved mismatch notifications and regarding all multiple use notifications that lead to the identification of an unauthorized user of a social security account number be shared with the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security on a timely basis. (2) (c) Information Sharing With the Department of Homeland Security- (1) Not later than 180 days following the date of enactment of this act, the Commissioner of Social Security shall promulgate regulations in accord with section 1306, title 42 (42 U.S.C. 1306), to require that information regarding all unresolved mismatch notifications and regarding all multiple use notifications that lead to the identification of an unauthorized user of a social security account number be shared with the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security on a timely basis. (2) Information to be shared with the Secretary shall include, at a minimum, the name and mailing address of all employees who are the subject of an unresolved mismatch notification or who are unauthorized users of another individual's social security account number. I have no problem with closing the border, but I do not support treating all illegals already within the borders, who have taken advantage of - as Mikeyy likes to call it - our "open border policy" like common criminals, to be persecuted (read this as hunted down), flushed out like roaches, and later handed over to the Federal government to be imprisoned in maximum security facilities in order to abide by the will of the "almighty people". When you can come up with legislation that will also find a humane way to deal with the people who are already here illegally, who are hardworking and good, then we can talk. |

I should also note that while ICE is claiming at the top of its lungs that these people commit identity theft, note that this act specifically requires name and mailing address of the employee with the duplicate SSN. Should that information then not be that of the innocent American whose identity has been stolen? Once again making it clear that while the number is "stolen", the identity is not. Manipulation at its finest.
