You shouldn't be. I'd say there are about the same number of like arguements made by those on the left.

You just can't admit it.

I apologize that this may be hijacking the thread, but looks like cnredd already did that. Foundit66, in the same post cnredd quoted, expounded on the comment Michael1 referenced:

But when it comes to SPECULATED MOTIVES, they will happily condemn people right and left without a shred of proof that the act was committed for the claimed motive...
Cheney (sworn into office in January 2001) and his secret energy task force were studying maps of the Iraqi oil fields and foreign suitors for Iraqi oil field contracts in March of 2001 evidencing proof of desire and plans for Iraq oil in 2001, only two months after the Bush/Cheney inauguration.

Bush/Cheney then took us to war against Iraq in 2003 because of WMD that didn’t exist, and tried to create ties between 9/11 and Iraq when no such ties existed.

The maps and lists from the secret energy task force had to be obtained through a FOIA lawsuit and the objectives and activities of the energy task force remain hidden in unsettled court cases.

War for Oil is not a “made up” argument without a shred of proof, although the truth and remaining evidence may forever be hidden by judges and courts.

Maps and Charts of Iraqi Oil Fields
These are documents turned over by the Commerce Department, under a March 5, 2002 court order as a result of Judicial Watch’s Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit concerning the activities of the Cheney Energy Task Force. The documents contain a map of Iraqi oilfields, pipelines, refineries and terminals, as well as 2 charts detailing Iraqi oil and gas projects, and “Foreign Suitors for Iraqi Oilfield Contracts.” The documents are dated March 2001. (Washington, DC) Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption and abuse, said today that documents turned over by the Commerce Department, under court order as a result of Judicial Watch’s Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit concerning the activities of the Cheney Energy Task Force, contain a map of Iraqi oilfields, pipelines, refineries and terminals, as well as 2 charts detailing Iraqi oil and gas projects, and “Foreign Suitors for Iraqi Oilfield Contracts.” The documents, which are dated March 2001, are available on the Internet at: www.JudicialWatch.org.

...Judicial Watch has been seeking these documents under FOIA since April 19, 2001. Judicial Watch was forced to file a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia (Judicial Watch Inc. v. Department of Energy, et al., Civil Action No. 01-0981) when the government failed to comply with the provisions of the FOIA law. U.S. District Court Judge Paul J. Friedman ordered the government to produce the documents on March 5, 2002.

...“These documents show the importance of the Energy Task Force and why its operations should be open to the public,” stated Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.

[QUOTE=DownSouth;120110]I apologize that this may be hijacking the thread,

No maybe about it. Put some effort into finding all the instances of what I stated instead of attempting to demonstrate those where what I said was questionable.

The left is far from being without sin.

You're just unwilling to admit it too .

Just look over at how Salty thinks everyone who doesn't see everything exactly the way she does is 'on the take'.

Once you start down the path of believing everyone you disagree with has secret evil hidden agendas you lose the ability to think and argue rationally.

But republicans do have some stimulus ideas.

Office of the Republican Whip :: Stronger and Simpler Stimulus
Quote:
Rather than a refundable credit based on payroll taxes, House Republicans propose reducing the lowest individual tax rates from 15% to 10% and from 10% to 5%. As a result every taxpaying-family in America will see an immediate increase in their income with an average benefit of $500 in tax relief from the drop in the 10% bracket and $1,200 for the drop in the 15% bracket. A married couple filing jointly could save up to $3,200 a year in taxes.
Quote:
Small businesses (those employing less than 500 individuals) employ about half of all Americans, yet they can be subject to tax rates that siphon away one-third or more of their income. House Republicans propose to allow small business to take a tax deduction equal to 20% of their income. This will immediately free up funds for small businesses to retain and hire new employees.
Quote:
The stimulus proposal pending in Congress includes record levels of government spending that will substantially increase the current deficit. House Republicans are concerned that this level of spending will result in some proposing near-term tax increases on American families. House Republicans are insisting that any stimulus package include a provision precluding any tax increases now or in the future to pay for this new spending. House Republicans believe that any stimulus spending should be paid for by reducing other government spending, not raising taxes.
Quote:
Incredibly, the Federal Government actually imposes income taxes on an individual receiving unemployment benefits. House Republicans propose to make unemployment benefits tax free so that those individuals between jobs can focus on providing for their families. The plan would also extend unemployment benefits from March to December, 2009.
Quote:
The real-estate market is paralyzed as potential buyers wait on the sidelines waiting for prices to fall even further. This is becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy. In order to encourage responsible buyers to enter the market and stabilize prices, House Republicans propose a home-buyers credit of $7,500 for those buyers who can make a minimum down-payment of 5%.
Looks like a great place to start rather than a massive spending spree.

Tax cuts helped -notice I said helped -get us into this mess.
The other half of that equation is spending.
I would (if king for a day)
cut spending and leave taxes in place. No rebates no bonus checks.
I would have let the housing market follow...well the market! and fall...fall... fall.
The houses would be bought up and prices would eventually increase. Meanwhile regular kids who work for a living could afford one. Construction would start in the remodeling and then it would eventually pick up.
Neither Democrats nor Republicans -pols that is- want to do anything like this. That's part of the stalemate and all of the problem. "Me!" , "No, me!"

absolutely false.
How can tax cuts be even part of the problem when the fact is that they brought higher tax revenue to the federal government?
I have posted the charts in other threads.
It is spending that's the problem; not tax cuts.
Sorry you don't like it but those are the facts & they are undisputed.

It may have happened on the left, but WAR FOR OIL isn't an example, and that is why I responded to cnredd's post, not to anything you said. My "speculation" about WAR FOR OIL is not "without a shred of proof". My post included only a couple of articles about only one aspect. That source, by the way, is supposed to be nonpartisan, but it is bankrolled by the Scaife Foundation, which is a heavy weight supporter of right wing activity. My "speculation" is not shaped by my politics. If something doesn't make sense to me, I question it and I start digging. My conclusions would be the same if it was the Pope instead of a Republican.

To foundit 66 and Mikey's points, though, the speculation of motives from the right and criticsm has been constant from the right since the inauguration.

I've seen Salty say "Follow the money" many times. Smart lady. Basic psychology - read up on primary motivators. I think Salty does the same thing I do - if something doesn't make sense, you look for a logical reason why - not for a secret evil hidden agenda - for facts.

I don't believe everyone I disagree with has a secret, evil, hidden agenda.

Because every where I went the states were scrambling to pay for something that had been cut or were cutting services.
For instance over in Oregon they cut out some disabled senior services for awhile. That put people I knew out of work-not to mention some 80-90 year olds with illnesses suffered from the loss.
We can't pay our way and upkeep without money. It comes from taxes. We can't have our cake and eat it too.
