Tell me more about this "meeting" that Bush "missed" and pretend like the attack on 9/11 was planned and the pilots trained in the 8 months he had in office before the attacks and even less time from any such meeting. Not to mention how the "transition" was deliberately "dithered" by the outgoing administration. (Compare that to Bush's class while exiting)

Having the trial in NYC "may" encourage another terrorist attack but I believe this is true no matter where the trial is held "outside" of Gitmo. Some of the stuff in the OP is a bit over the top but I believe this concern is legitimate.NYC has been through enough...I would not have picked that venue..

Where do you think these suicide bombers came from? They didn't just wake up one day and say gee, I'm tired of college, think I'll go out and blow myself up and take out some Israelis. It is about land and resources and sovereignty. The peace negotiations should have continued. You cannot negotiate when one side is missing from the table.
If canceling the meeting with Arafat was not intentionally meant to stir up trouble and start a war, then it was the stupidest thing Bush Jr ever did in his life.

There have been terrorist type training camps since before the cold war. America participated and in some cases instigated some.
You ever think about the concept of the straw that broke the camel's back scenario?
This is no partisan tactic. It is my personal opinion and I formed it during the time the events were ongoing.
It's like the last big mafia leader finally going down. The government didn't realize he had a role in keeping drugs under better control after years of experience and inherited ties. Now every child on a street corner sells the stuff.
It would have been better to negotiate with a known enemy than take what symbolism he retained and let the gates be flooded with those ready to create chaos.
