Lord...another girl just smitten with Dean. I happen to love Sammy. Something about all that wavy brown hair and boyish smile just does it for me.

I like Dean because he's full of angst but still humorous. I need my men to be somewhat moody and rebellious. "Boyish" doesn't do much for me.

Sammy's smart and gentle. I like bookish types...especially when they are just freakin hot. Dean just looks like he came out of a "hot guy" mold. Nothing interesting about him to me for some reason.

Now if my dick was hard and he was around, I don't think I would turn him around, but really...on the whole he does nothing for me.

Just a thought here, but why don't you two start a whole new thread to discuss the show about? That way, IF members want to get back to discussing the book, they don't have to go through several pages of posts non-related to the book?

Just an idea worth considering.

I know KOS and myself would LOVE to finish discussing this book...We're just both waiting for everyone who were involved to say 'ok, I've got time now, let's finish the discussion'.

So? Anyone ready to pick up where we all left off?
Geez I've read so many books since then I don't know how much I'd remember. I will say I found it completely understandable that Amir would hide during the "event." Being cowardly is something I can forgive. However as the story goes on I found his manner of "dealing" frankly unforgivable. As he struggled to forgive himself I must say I struggled to forgive him too. He became freaking unlikeable and I barely made it through the book. I understand that privilege is capable of weakening the spine but Amir had no spine. None at all. I am completely unable to understand how he turned on his friend/brother. Even if he was dealing with his own guilt over doing nothing his later behaviors are still inexcusable. As far as redemption stories go this one fell flat. I put the book down at the end not really convinced Amir was redeemed. He's a guy I wouldn't want to depend on and my eeeew feelings towards him remained long after I put the book down.

Remember that Amir was a 13 year old boy in a society where sodomy was not spoken of. He probably didn't have the tools to deal with what he has seen. He wasn't close to his father and would not have felt free to confide in him.

As for turning on his friend/brother, that was pure PROJECTION. He was angry at himself and turned that anger on Hassan. It was a dysfunctional way of dealing with a bad situation by a dysfunctional boy.

I can certainly understand Hassan's 'father's' reaction and taking the boy away from Amir.

I think that we had a timing issue with the holidays, but perhaps we need to alter the way we discuss the next book.

Chapter by chapter might not be the best idea.

We can discuss that.

I have a thought too...when everyone decides to discuss the book again, talloulou and I will happily end our conversation and turn our attention to what you all have to say.
