Default Free books

I ordered a couple of the books suggested on the Bookclub thread from an online book-swap club that I belong to.

It occurred to me that some of you, those who may be strapped for cash or just like to save a buck, might be interested in joining.

Basically you just mail books that you no longer want to members who do want them and get a one-for-one credit for books that you do want. I have been a member for some months and have been very pleased with the money I am saving and the quality of the books received.

If anyone does join, I would appreciate if you would give my name as referring you. My ID is BookMeInAlabama. (If you forget, no big deal.)

I did that once...And regretted it almost instantly. Swapped original Nacy Drew/Hardy Boys series I had, for new titles...Worse part is, when I went to try and get them back, to give back the books I traded them for? The book buyer refused. LOL! Not that I blame him, considering in my ignorance I'd handed him a gold mine.

I happen to get attached to my books it seems. And because of that error of mine, I learned that even an old worn book, has value. So I don't let my books go very easily, even if it's just under a loaner instance.

Terrific idea - I just signed up...it sounds so much easier (and cheaper!) than going to and from the used book store with bags of books every month!

(I gave them your i.d. as referral - do you get points?!)

Yes. When you posted your books, I got a credit for one book. I got the confirmation email a few minutes ago.

Thanks!

Thanks CF! I'll look into it. I've got a good many floating around here. Had traded quite a few a year or so back.

And Ali--thank you for your points too. Most everything I have is in paperback but the hardback Harry Potter et. al. goes nowhere. I'm glad for your feedback as well.

Hurray!
My free copy of The Kite Runner arrived today!
I have a couple of chapters in another book to finish - then I'm starting!

The debate on this book opens officially on the 20th.

I gave people a week to obtain the book and a week to read the first chapter.

Enough time, I think.

If I get a lot of PM's tating that the discussion should open earlier than the 20th, I will consider reopening the thread early.

As it stands now that is the date that the discussion will open. I am starting the book tonight. I've gotten MANY good reviews from others that have read it.

I'm looking forward to it.

not starting the discussion early - just saying that I've started the book - only got into the first 7-8 chapters - but I'm really enjoying it. Good choice!
