Default My wife's misadventure with the vet

My wife today took our little dog to the vet. (Admittedly, she did not have an appointment; it was a spur-of-the-moment thing.)

I did not go with her.

When she returned, however, she informed me that she had to sit in the car for almost an hour, running the air conditioning to try to stay cool (or, at least, not quite so hot).

The people there would simply not allow her to go inside. (More Covid-19 panic, apparently.)

Well, I am not at all bashful.

If they had done that to me, I would have called them, and asked which of them intended to pay for my gasoline. Because either (1) someone would pay for the gasoline needed to run the air conditioning; (2) they would allow me to come inside; or (3) I would just go home.

There simply would not be any #4.

(I truly do not agree to play by some rules for a "New Normal.")

So, you object to a private business determining its own operating procedures? If you don't like it, you're free to choose another vet.

Check your state and local Covid-19 restrictions. The vet may have had no choice.

Where I live the mayor didn’t lift the mask restriction for small businesses for some weeks after the CDC guidance changed. California has also delayed relaxing Covid-19 restrictions.

That would be my advice too. Our Vets here in Las Vegas have not done anything like that. We use 4 different vets because of the number of dogs we have, along with our rescue. Sounds like the vet is being hysterically over cautious. Most people like that just shut down their business and stayed home.

Tennessee is a red state. A lot of elderly have pets. vet waiting rooms are usually packed.
I'd say this business owner assumes his/her patrons are not getting vaccinated.

That is a reasonable point.

But here in Tennessee, our governor, Bill Lee, has lifted most of the Coronavirus restrictions--including even the (former) mask mandate.

Of course, private companies are free to do as they wish.
