My Grandmother had a Cocker named Penny.
She was never socialized much, so she was nippy.
I was scared to death of her when I was a kid.

yep cocker spaniels and chihuahuas are both nippy.
hounds are good pets and dachshunds and of course the frilly dogs that are popular but they (small poodles and shih tzus etc) are too much like babies for me to bother with.

All dogs can be that way depending on the way they were trained and raised from puppyhood.

Dachshunds rule. hehe
The long hairs are more sedate, the wires have the terrier personality most definitely, the smooths are just plain stubborn and lovable.
Doxies are the one breed that are spot on with temperament depending on coat and size.
Amazing.

My wife and I have housed over 100 dogs in the past 25 years, had 2 chows that got in a fight and I jumped in between. I ended up in the emergency room, 6 stitches and 8 puncture wounds in my arms, black and blue from my wrist to my arm pit, I still loved them and kept them, (separated them of course) luckily I have 4 fenced-in yards and a 6,000 square foot dog park built on my property.

I always think kids when I think about pets. We've had a lot of experience with dogs of all kinds. Airedales and hounds are pretty kid safe and the dachshunds
