I tend to be allergic. I haven't gone into anaphylaxis yet, but when I get stung I tend to have reactions far greater than those of most people. I've been lightheaded, dizzy, difficulty breathing in the worst cases, and in the best cases I have extreme localized swelling and redness, and by localized I mean several inches around the sting site. Extreme pain for hours and then lots of itching and soreness for days.

I got stung by a bee on a river trip once and ended up falling out of the back of my raft due to nearly passing out.

So, I think that's where my panic comes from. I'm never sure if the next sting will be the one that kills me. LOL

I have carpenter bees on my deck. The only reason I can tolerate them (barely) is because the males do not sting and I never see the females.

My cousin was eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich one day. He didn't notice the bee that was on it. Well, He went to bite into that sandwich and got stung right on the lip. His lip swelled up like a sausage. We were laughing so hard watching his lip swell up. So was he. Pot, It can be fun. It is hard to pull a stinger out of a fat lip when everyone is laughing. We were in tears.

GEEZE! You seem to have hit that nail right on the head!

I looked the little beasites up. If they established a beachhead here, it looks like it would be a major catastrophic ecological disaster. Not merely because they are dangerous to humans, but because they obliterate honeybees on an industrial scale.

Nature is cruel, but every species does what it has to to survive.
