Default New dog

So, my daughter who lives overseas at the moment is moving back to London in the Spring to live with me for a couple of years. She is bringing over her dog. It would be sooner, but Stanley her Yorkshire Terrier needs to pass the UK's strict rabies laws so his shots have to have 3 months to be established in his system and she can then just fly back with him in a special container in the plane's hold.

I am looking forward to her coming and also rather looking forward to having Stanley here too. She used to nag and nag for a dog when younger but we had so many pets and only live in a 2 bedroom maisonette so I was unsure as I knew it would be left at home all the time while my she and I were at school and work.

She is adamant she wants to bring him and they are devoted to each other. He was rescued from a house with nineteen dogs and is rather nervous about other dogs if they come close. He is gaining confidence with them though although he rather frightened a pug puppy the other day growling, but he has never physically gone for a dog. He is just frightened and wants his own space.

I have a park opposite and walking him will do me good as I don't get enough exercise apart from swimming. I may take him to dog obedience classes as I like the idea of that.

I am paranoid over cleanliness so I have to get over that. I hate the thought of dirty carpets especially now I replaced my carpets a few weeks ago, (but they are dark brown!). I suppose I will buy one of those steam cleaning machines.

May I send you a cat, so that you'll have the complete set?

Noooo, from experience I know that cats won't just use the scratching post and prefer the most central piece of carpet to sharpen their claws! At one time when my girls were younger we had two rabbits, a rat and two cats.
