I heard about this from a friend, and wanted to share it with you.
It's a live streaming cam on an Eagle nest in Newport News, Virginia.
I used to live in Norfolk and Virginia Beach for many years, so it's kinda my old stomping grounds....

It's SO cool.

As I'm posting the Eagle is on the nest.

Size is misleading. These birds stand about 3 feet tall and have a wingspan of 7-8 feet !!!!

As I understand it, one of the conditions for Alaska statehood, was that the territory had to end it's practice of paying bounties on Bald Eagles. That is people formerly were paid to kill them because they were thought top reduce the salmon harvest.

I should take some pictures of the eagles here and post them. a few weeks ago, one of our cops lost a windshield to one.

A common event here is to be driving along in the summer, minding your own business, bothering no one, and to have a salmon fall to the ground beside you, because some eagle caught one, (or stole one) and dropped it from high above.

I love salmon. Eat it about 2 or 3 times a week. Dang, wish a whole fresh salmon would fall outta the sky for me.......

I lived right on the Mississippi river from about 2003 to 2007. It was wooded next to my house and there was a family of eagles there every year. I could watch them from my kitchen window. Sometimes they are thick as penguins on the ice by the lock and dam. Here is a pic.

This is just another example of the Obama Administration trying to force itself into one of our symbols of America's greatness.
