Wrong dga, the talking point on the Lou Dobb's show was one thing about the many illegals and the article I posted was about what your talking about.

I posted it because the preacher was saying these illegals wouldn't have any legal way because the system is jammed up and broken.

Like him you are ill informed. So go back and re-read my starting post.

I am doing this and watching Lou Dobbs, his guest a preacher Rodriguez say the system is broken, that it is taking so long for the immigrants to get approval and citizenship.
yet I am reading this. So it must be that some want to allow the 10-20 million have citizenship no matter what.

Immigration agency says backlog virtually gone
I brought up both knowing others weren't watching the Dobb's show.. Which has forever been speaking on the issue of illegals. Which I am sure your aware of...

But dga I am not trying to be unkind, just sticking to my point. Thanks for the interest on the topic. I did think I would have heard from you earlier, as I was posting this..

I got that. Sounds like some idiot is implying that illegals need to get their green cards without a background check - based on a fake "broken system" - which of course would be sheer stupidity, aside of the fact that it would never fly, no matter what "Preacher Rodriguez" may say. Of course as I did not see the report, I can't comment on it. Hence why I have abstained from doing so, .

Sheer stupity is correct. But the it won't fly part is what the whole debate is about and has been for years. And I fear both parties will do just that sometime in the future. But that is just in my opinion...

And anything on the subject you have thoughts about I would like to read.

There was already an amnesty in the 80s, when presumably the system was more 'broken' and even then they did not approve immigrant petitions without an exhaustive FBI background check. I would be outraged if it were to happen like that, and forgive me but extremely skeptical that it is even possible in our current age of heightened security and the threat of Mexican drug cartels. Furthermore, not all 12 million will require background checks from scratch. Many illegals are already in the system in some way or other because they work above ground and pay taxes like everyone else. Obviously many of the criminals are also in the system through prior arrests and fingerprinting - automatically disqualifying them for any amnesty.

I think the fact it has dragged on so long will mean the other side will get its way in the end........green cards for some BS fine and repeat affer me in front of a Federal Judge... Once again the people will be left in the dust looking to compete for less jobs and 10-20 million more seeking jobs and at lower pay. That is why it will pass!

What makes that different then what we already have now? These people are already here, we are already competing with them for jobs. How would you propose to get rid of these people? You cannot unring a bell, .

Let's say there are illegals in my town, how would you propose to root them out? Or will you be like that idiot British politician who when asked how he would distinguish between legals and illegals in his country (presumably aimed at Muslims) his answer was "well, just by looking at them", . Unless you have a quick and decisive way of rounding up every illegal in the country without causing a backlash for the 42 million Americans and resident aliens who look illegal (i.e. Hispanic), then I must protest that it is an infringement on my constitutional rights, . I would then be forced to walk around with my American passport glued to my forehead, .

Now dag that is above and beyond as you know I'm not a racist.

And we have talked in the Chief Miller thread about how to handle this so I won't repeat myself.

As foe the passport I need (when married) to have a copy of my birth certificate, long ago in 1999 or 2000 as the wife and I were planning a vacation to Mexico. I got it and found out my last name was misspelled. So I provided my driver license and what ever else was needed. it was corrected.

Then time came to get a passport. But 9/11 had happened. And so the Feds held mine up requesting why I had a name change on my birth certificate. I had to e-mail my birth state for help. And if I was to update it (I didn't in January) again I might be denied so feel lucky to have one when I fought for this country and have a hard time getting one. All because my father let it pass in the late 40's... When I asked him about it he said he knew but didn't bother to correct it.

I did not read the Chief Miller thread, I would be interested in doing so if you'd be kind enough to provide a link.

I did not accuse you of racism, or at least I did not mean to. I am just providing an example of how unrealistic it is to expect to be able to deport all illegals without causing harm to legal Hispanics, IMO. We have already felt the backlash with the raids and other anti-illegal immigrants measures put into effects in some part of the country. I would hate to see what would happen if the government really tried.
