Default Pelosi Unleashes on Trump

Nancy Pelosi's tantrum after the SOTUS has attracted a lot of attention.

Quote:
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said Thursday that she felt "liberated" as she lashed out at President Donald Trump for the "falsehoods" she said he had spread in his State of the Union address and defended her decision to tear up a copy of his speech.

"I tore up a manifesto of mistruths," Pelosi told reporters at her weekly news conference, referring to the moment on Tuesday when she ripped up a copy of Trump's address to the nation once he finished speaking.
Critics have called Pelosi's stunt evidence she is losing her self control, no longer is the canny political operative she once was, a sort of female Joe Biden. But I propose a far more sinister, manipulative motivation for her childish tantrum.

Nancy Pelosi's House seat is secure at least from backlash over disrespecting the POTUS. President Trump was riding high thanks to a booming economy and the impending acquittal in the impeachment trial. Worse, from a Democrat perspective Trump was showing progress attracting black voters, an absolutely critical voting block for Democrats. Indeed, much of the SOTUS was directed at showing the benefits of the Trump administration to black voters. Nancy Pelosi needed something dramatic to distract from Trump's success. Ripping up the speech was a calculated gesture to draw attention to herself and away from President Trump.

Probably a good a theory as I have heard. Personally, I think Trump has driven her off the deep end. No matter what she throws at him, he keeps coming out on top and some of the DNC voting blocks are showing signs of defecting and moving towards Trump. Add to that the fact that the extreme left in Congress is forcing her into positions that she knows is unwinnable, and all she has left is her little tantrum.

Is it me or does she look like she as aged dramatically since winning back the house? I mean, she always looked like a poster child for Botox, but in these last few weeks, she looks like she has put on 10 years. I wonder if her health is becoming an issue?

She's gone way past her use-by date.

I agree with what you've written, but I'd like to add one...

True, but her seat as Speaker of the House is not...

She's already known as the sitting speaker, in 2010, when the Dems, using Obama's word, took a "shellacking"...Lost 60 seats in the House...

Now I don't seeing that happening, again, on that level, but the Republicans only need to gain 20 seats to take the majority...Doable...

Imagine being the only Speaker of the House in US history to lose double-digit majorities in the house....TWICE!?!!?...

From a historical standpoint, that would be pretty devastating...

On top of that, even if the Dems keep the House, she's on thin ice within her own party...There were rumblings in 2018 that she was not going to get the speakership (which fizzled), but would definitely be louder than rumbles this election...She might not be speaker no matter which side wins the house...

Add to that she's in the sunset of her political career; one which she'll be going out with a whimper...The only way she could still be relevant would be all four of the following to happen...

1) A Democrat becomes president
2) The Dems keep the majority in the House
3) The Dems vote to keep her as speaker
4) The Dems get a majority in the Senate so her House agenda can get passed and signed into law

"Never say never", but the chances of all four coming to fruition is slim, so she really doesn't have a shot to be relevant...I can imagine how frustrating that would be...

The far more logical explanation is that sheís incredibly frustrated that we have the most corrupt president in modern American history and the Republican Party has chosen to go full quisling instead of protecting our national interests. She (and we) are witnessing stuff from Trump that would have been scandals of historic proportions for any prior president and the Republicans and much of the public just donít care. If Obama or Bush had delivered a state of the union as crazy and full of lies as Trump just did, it would have been the lead story on the news for a week. Now, the media just shrugs its shoulders and moves on to the next outrage and the presidentís party blocks any meaningful oversight. Itís no wonder she reacted as she did, and I donít blame her.

Once again, we have Dems lashing out, and yet it's always someone else's fault...

Republican personal actions are due to Republicans...Democrat personal actions are due to Republicans...

Personal responsibility?...This is a Democrat! Perish the thought!!!...

I predict Nancy will retire soon, for the sake of what's left of her sanity.

Nancy Pelosi claimed that the ostentatious ripping up of the president's speech was actually "courteous,"
considering the alternative.

Well, that necessarily begs the question: What, exactly, did she view as the "alternative"?

Trump so blatantly lied throughout his speech, it's no wonder she had some reaction. And that on top of so many things he has done. Starting with promising to get a comprehensive immigration policy until he was made aware that the PAC money for him and Senate Republicans lies in not getting it.

For snowflake Republicans to pizz and moan about it after they stood by Gommer Gomert insulting the President to his face in front of both houses is just amazingly lame.
