Minorities fear cops because they've been taught to fear cops. By minority leaders.

I watched the video, and he brings up some good points. Whites and blacks alike have been treated wrongly by various law enforcement agencies. The problem I have with BLM, though, is that all (innocent) lives matter, and when a criminal/thug of any color is shot by cops, it isn't a racist matter that should cause rioting. When a law-abiding citizen of any color is wrongfully shot by an LEO though, that is a problem that needs to be addressed, but not by rioting, which accomplishes nothing good..

Many minorities don't trust or revere cops and sometime fear cops because… they and/or their family and/or friends and/or neighbors that have had dealings with cops who were, belligerent and/or unjust and/or corrupt and/or abusive and/or killers.

I've been dealt with too harshly on 2 occasions for simply having an out of date state vehicle sticker.
, one of my brothers has almost been shot twice. Neither time was he doing anything illegal or defying the cops he was complying with orders and cops drew there weapons. one of kids in my neighborhood that i knew went to jail for a crime for about 3 years he did not commit. the real criminal confessed years later. The wife of a friend of mine, a college professor, was pulled over month after month by the same cop for simply driving into her own expensive neighborhood.
I and most of my family have lived middle class suburbs and have never lived in the ghetto or the projects or "the inner city" where some of the people i've met and heard stories from tell of the same and far worse accounts of poor police treatment.

the "minority leaders" don't have to gin up any fears. All they have to do is mention the general situation and everyone knows what they are talking about.
It's like talking to people that live with a lot of livestock and dogs on their land about stepping in crap. You don't have to gin up stories about it. everyone knows it happens. And deal with it.

What those leaders actually DO about it can be legitimately questioned, but the "fears" or concerns about the police are real to various degrees.

But i have to add the obligatory fact,
I'M NOT SAYING THAT ALL POLICE ARE BAD.

but there is a common knowledge that too many individual police and police depts are not living up to the standards and responsibilities they've been trained and paid to perform.. and in fact have abused the authority and privileges of the important office.

the Guy makes a LOT of good points here. He maybe overstates the case a bit but he's far closer to the reality than those that would DENY all problems with Police and the ATF, BLM, DEA etc.

In fact one of my biggest complaints when the Black Lives Matter movement started was that it was just ‘Black lives’.
not because it's not an issue but that the Issues of Police abuse had long ago spread beyond the inner city to everyone. The "inner city" is where it's simply been more of a prevalent and a long term feature.

It was a MISSED opportunity for "citizens" (Citizens Lives) (Civilians Lives) of all colors, mostly of middle to lower incomes, to unite against the militarization and abuses of law enforcement from the feds to the local level.

Ruby Ridge, Branch Davidians, Eric Garner etc, are all points on the same dark line of LEOs living far across any legitimate bounds. Constitutional, common sense or otherwise.

But instead of people of all stripes becoming aware and active against a general problem across the board, the politicians, "leaders", well meaning (or not) activist and reactionary rank and file, have used it as another way to divide people.

While the creeping "soft" police state grows on all fronts.
With it’s abuses individually denied, justified, or accepted as part of the price we have to pay for “protection”.

Your opinion is obviously at odds with the National Police Foundation.

Quote:
Race continues to influence how people of African descent in the United States are treated by law enforcement. Racism has been a systematic feature of American society and all of its institutions since this nation’s inception. Acknowledgement of the role implicit and overt biases have historically played in creating disparate law enforcement practices and the resulting frictions between African Americans and the police is a reality that should be immediately addressed.

Black children become aware of the bias against them based upon racial profiling by law enforcement long before they begin to pay attention to the leaders of black society.

Based upon the corruption, brutality, inhumanity, immorality, dishonesty, and incompetence of the Trump administration the White House is the dirtiest house in America and there's no known cleanser that with remove the stains of the Trump Administration.
