Default The U.S. economy is solid, but there’s no ‘Trump bump’

The economic headlines this week look great for President Trump.

More than 1 million jobs have been added since Trump took office. The stock market is at record highs. The Dow crossed 22,000 for the first time ever. Hiring surged in July. Trump took a victory lap Friday, dubbing it an “excellent” economy.

Every president talks up the economy. It's the president's job to be America's cheerleader-in-chief. The reality is the U.S. economy is solid. It's not booming. And there's no “Trump bump” — yet.
Quote:
To see how the Trump economy is really doing, look at growth, jobs, wages and business spending. All of those factors are showing no change since the days of President Barack Obama.
Quote:
Yes, more Americans are getting jobs. Hiring in July was stronger than experts expected, with a net gain of 209,000 jobs. That's good news, but the pace of hiring is a tad worse than under Obama. The economy has added 1,074,000 jobs since Trump took office. During the same stretch last year, the economy gained 1,246,000 jobs under Obama.
Quote:
“On the jobs metric, there's no Trump bump,” said Chris Rupkey, chief financial economist at MUFG bank in New York. “It's pretty consistent with the final year of Obama’s administration.”
Quote:
The fastest-growing job category last month was low-paying retail jobs. Trump used to slam Obama by claiming he was creating only crummy jobs. Now that's part of the Trump story, too.

People in the construction business say that this is the busiest manufacturers have been during their 30-40 year careers.

The Stock market is different. The market reacts instantly to world news and emotions. The reason market confidence is so high is because they do not see regulations and taxes increasing. This is why markets dive when high tax, regulation loving democrats get into the white house.

markets don't like uncertainty. but construction was inevitable since the economy including the stock market has been on a pretty steady 7 year rise.

It boomed under Obama due to the Feds pumping money into the market thru Quantitative Easing. Essentially printing money and propping up the market with low interest rates. The net affect of this was to drive inflation upwards and make millions of dollars for those Wall Street tycoons that he loved to bash so much.

Unfortunately for most Americans, a booming stock market has little effect except on their 401K's. The Obama boom has it's arguable causes but it netted virtually no GDP growth or financial gains for the common citizen.

The Obama years saw a radical separation of the rich and the poor. You can rationalize it all you wish, name as many Presidents as you want to backup such silly logic, but it doesn't change the dreadful economics of the middle class in the years 2006 to 2016.

My company went through tough times from 2010 to 2016. This year we went from working 60 hours a week to keep the lights on, to working 60 hours a week to keep up with customer demand. I don't care if it is a Trump boom or the alignment of the stars,,,; I'm just happy for the change.

However, by just using your logic of calendar association causality, the boom is happening now under President Trump.

As Salty says,,; Deal with it.

It didn't boom under Obama, it very slowly gained back what it lost. It Took off! as soon as the people with money realized Trump won. The recession was over right after Obama took office. His taxes and regulations are what keep it slow. The slow economy was the reason the feds did not raise interest rates for 7 years. They have raised rates more under Trump than Obama's 8 years.

TAXES AND REGULATIONS ALWAYS MAKE PEOPLE HESITANT TO BUILD AND SPEND MONEY. THAT IS WHY THINGS ALWAYS SLOW DOWN UNDER THE POTUS THAT DOES THESE THINGS.

Republicans are too eager to give Trump credit for anything they like.
Too caught up in "Obama bad. Trump good." to even bother looking at the facts.

People need to stop saying what they want to believe and actually look at the facts.
Stock Market Performance by President | MacroTrends
Trump stock market performance eclipsed by Obama and Bush

It's RIGHT THERE in the actual numbers (last link above). After first six months.
Obama: +22.6%
Trump: +8.8%

So you tell me what your numbers are that objectively compares the stock markets between Obama & Trump...
