The complaint was that the GOP didnít compose a "stunning" healthcare plan while they were out of power. Let's apply that same standard to a host of issues where the Democrats controlled the Senate and the Presidency, they failed using the same standard being applied now to Republicans.

Since partisan Democrat behavior is somehow a distraction, let's focus on their Obamacare obstructionism. Democrats admit Obamacare needs changes but when they could have used any of the 60 House passed Obamacare reform bills as a platform to work on these changes Harry Reid's Senate just ignored them in favor of partisan political grandstanding. Remember, Dirty Harry over wrote the contents of an unrelated House passed veterans benefits bill with the Obamacare text then had it treated as a reconciliation bill so it's not like he didnít know how to wrangle Obamacare reforms into law. To single out Republicans as solely responsible for not having a stunning Obamacare replacement developed in the face of adamant Democrat obstructionism is nonsense.

The real problem is Senate Republican leadership lacking the ruthless determination to get the bill passed. Even with a lackluster effort and a so-so bill they only fell short by a few votes, hardly a huge failure.

The OCare problem will be a problem for the R's only if they assume the problem. Problem is they seem willing to assume it.

Pass one of the 60 bills. Give it 6 months to go into effect, and set up committees including Democrats to come up with a plan. They are not smart enough to do that. Instead McConnell and Ryan will grab a shovel and dig a deeper hole.
