Best, Worst Presidents: C-SPAN Survey Has Barack Obama at 12 | Time.com

Quote:
Barack Obama has been whisked to a very good table at the club of former presidents, according to a C-SPAN survey of 91 presidential historians published on Friday. Obama’s 12th-place ranking only a month after leaving office is the best for any president since Ronald Reagan, who ranks ninth in the new survey. The list updates previous C-SPAN surveys compiled in 2009 and 2000.
I'm already annoyed with this survey, Reagan 9th???? maybe 39th!

Quote:
Historians gave Obama high marks for pursuing equality, managing the economy, public persuasion and “moral authority.” On the other hand, he was judged to have been below-average in handling international relations. Overall, he placed ahead of such generally well-regarded chief executives as James Monroe and James Polk.
I think a big notation should be made for moral authority. He had no personal scandals and was the epitome of class, especially for being a muslim atheist.

Quote:
“Once again the Big Three are Lincoln, Washington and FDR — as it should be,” said one of the shepherds of the survey, Douglas Brinkley of Rice University in Houston. “That Obama came in at number 12 his first time out is quite impressive,” Brinkley added.
Can't argue with that!

It is a little early to be patting oneself on the back just yet. The effects of the Obama Presidency have not yet been entirely felt. But then he was awarded a Nobel peace prize not fort what he had ever done, but for what he was going to do.

Expectations???? Well they are one thing, but after eight years the world is hardly at peace. This even though Barak Obama hisself claimed it so.

I suggest we let the dust settle for a while and then see whether what is in the teary mist be good, bad, or different, than was "expected."

January 20th 2009 he was the second coming. Now at least half the nation, and the world, is glad he is gone.

Or is he?

Non gratum anus rodentum. All the presidents were public servants and nothing more.

ROFLMAO! I love this.
Repubs go from "Obama is the reason Dems lost in 2016"
to "We can't judge how bad Obama was until some point in the future"

And there it is...
Even within the same post you try to drift back to pretending that he was severely disliked.

Obama left office with 59% job approval ratings.
Trump wishes he had that. If Trump were to somehow RISE to Obama's level, that would mean an almost 50% increase from where Trump is now!

President Obama;

Eight years of war

Lowest economic growth in American History

Record number of mass shootings

Record number of Terrorist attacks on our soil.

Record number of people on food stamps

Record high health Insurance costs

Record high national debt

Worse rioting since 1967

Highest poverty level since 1967

And this is called Success?

We have had 45 presidents. Obama scoring as #12 means that 34 of them were downright awful. Funny, I don't recall that many were even as bad. And that includes Jimmy Carter.

Who called it a success?
It's eight years of improvement when Repubs handed over from "The Great Recession" that they refused to admit how bad it was.

Eight years of war => Which war did he start?
Lowest economic growth in American History => The economy is driven by the masses purchasing power and their wages are stalled. Of course Repubs aren't interested in fixing that but rather in blaming...

A lot of your "record high" list is crap. It's a consequence of a growing population and we'll see "record high" under Trump as well.
You guys whine about the deficit under Obama as he cut the deficit but then don't even blink twice when people REPEATEDLY say that Trump's plans are going to grow the deficit.

You're viewing things through your Republican tinted glasses.
Like I said. Trump approval rating 40%.
Obama left office with 59%.
But you refuse to admit how bad Trump is as you think Obama is awful.

One thing that I would like the viewing audience to consider is this...
Look at FrancSevin's list.
Then think about Trump's focus since inauguration.
The only real Republicans could pretend he's had applicable focus is in "Terrorist attacks on our soil". With the plan that got shot down in court and Trump abandoned.

Funny how FrancSevin just listed a bunch of things that Repubs cared about under Obama...
... but now they're ignoring under Trump.

Why is it necessary that when a republican makes a list it always excludes any positives. It also pretends Obama inherited a great economy when in fact we were in meltdown. Honesty would be refreshing but you have none.

Actually, a lot of that list is considered a positive by the lefties.

As for "inheriting a mess" that falls short when you reason that from the low of point of the economy in 2009 one could only go up. And yet we stayed stuck there. Or got worse. So, No, it doesn't pretend anything.

I challenge you to prove any thing on the list as untrue. You cannot. Which is why we get the equivalency rant.

I'm not sure President Trump will do much better. But if he does, we will hear from the left that it was Obama's ground work which made it possible. That will sort of be true since it was the Obama failing programs that put Trump in office.

I challenge you to show me on your list which are directly Obamas fault or responsibility The wars were started by someone else. The longest sustained growth in the countries history has been on Obamas watch. Record number of terrorist attacks and mass shootings? How is that Obamas fault? Food stamps are a result of wage stagnation. Insurance cost will continue to climb. The national debt is Obamas fault how?Its seems sort of humorous that you lay no blame at the feet of congress. That wouldn't be partisan would it? Btw you know I could easily google a list of positives from the Obama administration but you would ignore them. I know for a fact the country is in better shape then when Obamas came in. You want to believe Trump will make America great again? Go ahead
