Fine. Enjoy yourself.
I am hiring a president and I have looked at the two applicants and I have looked at what is best for the United States.

There is no reason for me to try to be constructive. It is for me to point out the reasons why one guy is well suited for the job and the other one isn't.

You can try to be impartial.

I want what is best for America.

And unless you can revive Abe Lincoln, I think the best candidate in this race is John McCain.

I know you believe that, but you are basing that on false logic and fundamentally flawed assumptions. I want what is best for America too. And what's best for America is an impartial (as best as we can) view of the situation. It's when these feelings and emotions and desires get in the way that we make mistakes.

You are relating this to a job interview... In that case, I'm to suppose you are familiar with business? If you are, you would know that a resume tells less than 10% of what you need to know about the prospective employee.

Which is why judgement and character are so relevant to the discussion...

How many employees would YOU hire if you knew they gave grants to people who planted bombs at the Pentegon and killed policemen and are unrepentant to this very day?...

How many employees would YOU hire if you knew they spent 20 years listening to their "mentor" telling you to "Gaddamn" your company?...

How many employees would YOU hire if you knew they promised to accept public funding in order to work in your company and then said "F*** it!" when it came time to make his position official?...

How many employees would YOU hire if you knew their wife thought your company was a piece of sh*t until her husband applied for the job?...

Judgment and character...Goes a long way; don't it?...

I'd say I might understand that at least as well as you. I've hired and fired and led teams or managed groups of more than 100 people. I've interviewed candidates for six figure salaried executive positions. Let's leave it there.

Obama Should Come Clean On Ayers, Rezko And the Iraqi Billionaire - WSJ.com
Consider the words of Republican VP Nominee, Governor Sarah Palin speaking of Barack Obama:

Quote:
I've noticed a pattern with our opponent.

Maybe you have, too.

We've all heard his dramatic speeches before devoted followers.

And there is much to like and admire about our opponent.

But listening to him speak, it's easy to forget that this is a man who has authored two memoirs but not a single major law or reform - not even in the state senate.

This is a man who can give an entire speech about the wars America is fighting, and never use the word "victory" except when he's talking about his own campaign. But when the cloud of rhetoric has passed ... when the roar of the crowd fades away ... when the stadium lights go out, and those Styrofoam Greek columns are hauled back to some studio lot - what exactly is our opponent's plan? What does he actually seek to accomplish, after he's done turning back the waters and healing the planet? The answer is to make government bigger ... take more of your money ... give you more orders from Washington ... and to reduce the strength of America in a dangerous world. America needs more energy ... our opponent is against producing it.

Victory in Iraq is finally in sight ... he wants to forfeit.

Terrorist states are seeking new-clear weapons without delay ... he wants to meet them without preconditions.

Al Qaeda terrorists still plot to inflict catastrophic harm on America ... he's worried that someone won't read them their rights? Government is too big ... he wants to grow it.

Congress spends too much ... he promises more.

Taxes are too high ... he wants to raise them. His tax increases are the fine print in his economic plan, and let me be specific.

The Democratic nominee for president supports plans to raise income taxes ... raise payroll taxes ... raise investment income taxes ... raise the death tax ... raise business taxes ... and increase the tax burden on the American people by hundreds of billions of dollars.
ABC News: Sarah Palin Makes History as First Female Vice Presidential Nominee of Republican Party

There is too little measurable achievement in Obama's past and too many questions that he refuses to answer.

Apparently all of Obama's supporters would use those criteria as a checklist of things to look for in an ideal candidate.

I sometimes get the feeling that some people who live lives of quiet maniacal desperation somehow get a computer and an ISP and use that to try to find validation for their own particular skewed vision of the world.

Without the internet they would stay isolated and thinking they were alone. But with the power of technology they discover there are other malcontents like themselves and they get together online. But they also act singularly and try to make it seem as though their POV represents the majority of Americans.

We will see come November. I'm not going to debate this in circles with you guys because you obviously don't get it. Can't get it. And that's fine...

1. This resume you guys are talking about is bullshit. It doesn't exist for a reason... Thank you Constitutional Framers.

2. The resume scheme is an EXCUSE instead of a reason, a solid reason.

3. Palin's associations and personal life are just as scary as Baracks, but you don't see me going through it with a fine tooth comb just to be a twit and try to score political points through FEAR.

Fear is all you've got...

That is, unless I believed being a Senator was inconsequential. Maybe that's why Obama voted present 120 times. He knew it wouldn't make a difference if he didn't express his constituents on those bills.Speculation.

Good thing GOVERNOR Palin didn't have that view of HER job.Speculation.

And that makes me wonder, if Obama didn't intend to help his constituents and/or the country by voting on the bills at hand, WTF was he doing in the Senate???

Obama was named editor of the Harvard Law Review but wrote nothing for the journal.

No evidence. This claim has actually proven to be untrue. In addition, his job was editor, not writer.

He graduated and went to Chicago and joined a cult. A Black Liberation Theology cult. No evidence that this is a cult, just opinion and scare tactics.

He became a State Senator and voted "present" 120 times. And?

"You can't vote present in the Oval Office." No, you issue signing statements.

He spent 143 days in the U.S. Senate before announcing for POTUS.

Obma & Biden have ZERO executive experience.

ZERO.
Okay, I've called you out on a couple. Want me to keep going to you can resign and never come back like you promised?

If Experience Is The Standard

Since the republicans started the experience argument against Barack Obama & now the democrats are fighting back with the same argument against Sarah Palin I think it's time to compare & contrast their experience in government. We should first note when each candidate was first elected to a public office. Barack Obama took his first elected office in 1997 while Sarah Palin took her first elected position in 1992. Senator Obama went from two terms as a state senator to currently serving his first term as US Senator. Governor Palin went from two terms on city council to two terms as mayor to now serving her first term as Governor of Alaska. Both candidates lost an election for a public office as well: Obama lost his run for the US House prior to winning his current elected position & Palin lost her bid for Lieutenant Governor prior to winning her current elected position.

What does all this mean? It means they have similar experience in terms of time spent in government. However, one took the path of legislator while the other took the path of chief executive. For one to claim that John McCain was irresponsible for picking Sarah Palin as his VP based on experience one would also have to conclude the entire democratic party was irresponsible for nominating Barack Obama to be POTUS if one was interested in being consistent.

Then, of course, there's the "What if McCain dies?" hysteria. The average life expectancy in the United States is 79.2 years old. For males it's 75.4 & 83.2 for females. Although, we currently have 6 US Senators serving that are over the age of 80. And our oldest president, Ronald Reagan, didn't die until he was 93. Given these stats & history, the worry of McCain; who recently turned 72; dying in office doesn't hold water unless someone plans on killing him.

Then we have the foreign affairs/relations/policy argument. There's a reason Obama chose Joe Biden as his running mate. Maybe a lack of experience? Even though Palin couldn't be totally oblivious to foreign relations considering the location of the state she governs, the foreign policy experience is already in the hands of her running mate. At the top of the ticket; not the bottom. They pretty much cancel each other out.

Then there's the notion that Governor Palin should stay home with her kids. Why was this never asked of John F Kennedy who had young children? Or, of Barack Obama when he currently has a couple of young daughters? Is it because they both had a wife to take care of the kids? Apparently some folks hold onto this notion that men can't be caregivers of their children. My June 17, 2007 posting addresses this prejudice. Further more, no one questioned Joe Biden's fitness to be a single parent & a US Senator when he decided to ride that Amtrak train two hours one way away from his children everyday & then two hours back. Remember, Sarah Palin is married. She has a qualified domestic helpmate in her husband.

At the end of the day, the experience arguments fall a little short. Primarily because Sarah Palin isn't asking us to elect her POTUS, but rather to be the helpmate of John McCain. On the other hand, Barack Obama is expecting to be elected POTUS even though his VP would be far more qualified than he. Though I believe the democratic ticket seems backwards , both tickets are quite similar. Both have someone old & someone new but one is red & one is blue.
Right on the Mark: If Experience Is The Standard
