Default Mike Rowe Responds To Facebook Attacker

It's a response to one person in particular, but also goes to many other posts directed towards him...

Rowe went on Glenn beck's show....That's a felony in some corners of the word...

(The last paragraph explains this forum...)

Quote:
Shannon K. Walsh wrote, "Mike - How could you associate with such a horrible and psychotic person that is Glen Beck? I wouldn't accept a dime off that hateful, nasty racist. Very disappointed to see this post."

Well, hi there, Shannon - and a pleasant good morning to you too!

If you want a detailed answer to your question, please take a moment to read my earlier reply to Bob Reidel, another crestfallen soul who couldn't reconcile my association with a TV host that he personally despised. As you read it (out loud, if possible, and in a public place), kindly replace the words "Bob Reidel" with "Shannon K. Walsh," and "Bill Maher" with "Glenn Beck." But prepare yourself - you might be forced to conclude that my true objective here has little to do with winning or losing your approval.

As for your personal characterization of Glenn Beck, I can only assume you have information not available to me. In my time with him, I saw nothing "horrible, psychotic, hateful, or nasty." I smelled no burning sulphur, no smoldering brimstone, and saw no sign of cloven hooves.

To the contrary, I found a very passionate guy who employs about 300 people, works his butt off, and puts his money where his mouth is. Do we agree on everything? Of course not. Am I "disappointed" by that fact? Not at all. The real question, Shannon, is ... why are you?

To be clear, I'm not here to tell you what to think or whom to hate. Like everyone else, you're free to pick your devils, choose your angels, and attach the horns and halos accordingly.

But the guts of your question - even without all the name-calling and acrimony - reveal the essence of what's broken in our country. You want to know "how I can associate" with someone you don't like? The short answer is, how can I not? How are we ever going to accomplish anything in this incredibly divisive time if we associate only with people that we don't disagree with?

Mike

I saw him when he was on the Bill Maher show... He's about as centrist as anyone can be and only wishes for ALL of America to be successful. He's very passionate about the Unemployment problem in this country .

The only way we will be able to overcome this debt is for unemployment to be about 4.5%, but with expanding medicare, welfare and disability I doubt we will get there. We make it to easy for people not to work.

Default Mike Rowe Blasts Media Coverage of His Walmart Ad

The dirty Leftists are after Mike Rowe again.

Quote:
Mike Rowe Blasts Media Coverage of His Walmart Ad, Names Writers and Calls Them Out: ‘I’m Sure Matt’s a Swell Guy, But…’

Though the attacks are mind-boggling, Mike Rowe is still fighting back critics over his decision to appear in a Walmart ad emphasizing the beauty of hard work. More importantly, the ad promotes the giant retailer’s pledge to invest $250 billion in U.S. manufacturing.

“I’m back. Three days of press, five hours of sleep, four bottles of wine, a speech, a job offer, 5,000 form letters, and a couple of good-natured death threats. All because of a commercial that I narrated about American manufacturing paid for by Walmart,” Rowe wrote on Facebook on Monday.

Perhaps because he finds some amusement in pointing out the misleading arguments being made against him, the former “Dirty Jobs” host hit a few writers over their reporting on his relationship with Walmart.

He began with the “journalistic masterpiece” written by Matt Hardigree of Jalopnik, the automotive blog owned by Gawker Media. The headline: “Ford Drops Shill-For-The-Oppressors Mike Rowe From Truck Ads.”

There were a lot of problems with even just the headline, so we’ll let Rowe explain the facts:

“Shill for the Oppressors!” Is that not fantastic? I should make new business cards. I’m sure Matt’s a swell guy, but unfortunately, he’s so eager to report on a story that doesn’t exist he’s resorted to a career in fiction. Matt believes that my recent work with Walmart drove The Ford Motor Company to fire me after seven years of service. He sees some sort of conspiracy at work in a recent Ad Age article, where according to him, every one played just “a little too nice.”

Sorry Matt – here are the facts. Ford didn’t “drop” me. We had serious discussions about another extension but decided not to proceed for reasons completely benign. We parted amicably long before the Walmart ad came along. A simple phone call to Ford would have confirmed that. Or, you could have done some really deep digging, and called me. People do it all the time, especially when they’re interested in geting the facts.

Bottom line – We “played nice” in Ad Age because the people involved are all, well…nice. I’m just at a point in my career where I want to associate myself with messages that speak directly to the issues that are important to me. That’s why the Walmart ad was so appealing. A $250 billion investment in US manufacturing is worth talking about, and very much in keeping with the goals of my own foundation. If any other “Oppressors” are looking to make a similar investment in America, drop me a line. I’m happy to “shill” for any company that get this country back to work.

Then I would not take him seriously. This person must have admired this Mr. Rowe at some point.

And this is the best example of the point Redd just made.

I dont know who mike rowe is, but i have listened to glen beck. glen beck is a wacko inflammatory huckster looking for a mark. he even uses the christian religion to earn his (probably by now) considerable income. Jim Baker on steroids.
so rowe can go on his show whenever and wherever that is broadcast now. I know it comes on some days on KIDO and I leave it play for awhile (after the mornings show and probably the late night only show that isn't mainly propaganda and that is a ufo show--sad commentary right? rofl)

**just as a side note I tuned in to the wrong radio station late last night--one where I also like the local morning show. And I had to get up at 2:20 am and turn it because there were two guys talking about Obama this and Obama that. Just another sad reflection of what has happened since a handful of guys bought out all the talk stations.

**happy note--there are shows on the internet now --wider choice.

FYI Salt, Mike Rowe was the star of Dirty Jobs. A show that went out and showed some of the nastiest jobs in the country. It was a very good series and he did a good job. Now it seems he runs a foundation that promotes the return of jobs to this country. Another laudable goal.
