With my luck if I ever won a lottery, it would involve getting shot at.

Remember,a gun will give you an edge. It does not make you invulnerable, nor will it keep you from getting your butt whipped if you screw with the wrong person.

Use a pistol to get a sub gun or shotgun. Then use that to get a long gun.

Yes, I can throw a tomahawk. In some circumstances this is better than a pistol.

Do ya'll know that dry sh** will burn. It is called chips, and was used a good deal by the settlers crossing the plains(buffalo chips). It is also used a good bit in the mideast(camel dung).

Smoke 'em if you got 'em. If you don't, quit bitching while I smoke mine.

There are two breeds of chickens(that I know of) that lay eggs colored other than white or brown. Auracanas and Americanas. The Americanas lay the blue eggs.

You will sometimes see eggs that have no shell. These are called skin eggs, and are a sign that the chicken needs a lot more calcium in their diet.

I m never bothered by a dog that is wagging its tail, its the teeth on the other end that may not have the same message.

All that glitters is not gold, everything that swishes by in a dress may not be female.

Never ask a Scottsman why he's wearing a skirt.

It ain't the size of the dog in the fight, it's the amount of fight in the dog.

A dachshund can whip a great dane if he gets the dane by the cojones.

A word of warning to those interested.

when buying treated lumber for tables, decks or intimate contact, outdoor furniture, make sure you get the yellow treated and not the old green treated. Seems the older stuff has been linked to cancer in kids and adults.

I've found out through this vale of tears that the only thing that really counts is what you leave behind. Not the money or the land, not the portfolio or the piles of gold, but the memories you leave with those who cared about you.

I don't mind the world crapping on me, that's to be expected, but does it have to be a truckload at a time.

I miss my daughter.

.45 beats a full house.

Many people fear death. But, to me, death is just a gateway to another adventure. The manner of my death concerns me, but not the dieing. Of course, that doesn't mean I won't be drug off kicking and screaming, or fighting to hang on. there are just too many things I want to do and see before I take that long goodbye.

I am still thinking over the idea of building a boat, but am just a little bit hesitant.

Will somebody please get off their rear ends and build a space hotel? Even if I never get to go there, I really want to see one built before I go.

My grandkids are great. they are giving my kids all the heart aches my kids gave me.

I am a product of my times. I know this. but it has occurred to me more often lately, that what this country needs is about ten years of a really nasty dictatorship to make the drones appreciate what liberty really is.

Lay all the money you have ever earned out. Weigh it. then take all the love you have ever been given and lay it out. Weigh it if you can. Every child must be weighed, every person you ever cared for. Bet it outweighs the money. If not, I'm truly sorry for you.

Around here, we call cosmetics 'war paint'. a better name would be hunting paint.

Remember, if you can see the enemy, he can see you too.

Never rely on hiding to save you. A good thick wall does a lot better.

If possible, back away from a fight. If cornered, or protecting others, then fight like you've never fought before.

The greatest deed a person can ever perform is to face death protecting the innocent or injured. To be willing to fight and die for those who cannot defend themselves.
"Greater love has no man, than to give his life for a friend."

Atlantis and Xanadu may be myths, but aren't they so fascinating?

Ham and eggs has a special meaning to artillery. It is a call for High explosives to be delivered downrange.

Remember those who helped to form you, for good or for ill. They are as much a part of you as your own lungs. If you forget them, you forget yourself.

Spring 2012

Another year further down the trail.

Knowledge comes with age, unfortunately wisdom sometimes doesn't.

"Kill them all, let God sort them out" is a younger persons philosophy. "Piss on them, I ain't got time left to worry about it" is an older persons philosophy. I must still be young.

Why do people insist on cakes and parties for birthdays? It's just another day. A happy birthday, now lets get to work is much more my speed.

I enjoy watching people. They are such funny creatures, especially in packs.

If you could lick your own cojones like a dog does, would you?

As a mechanic, I make a pretty good parts changer.

I found something I was good at, but now they tell me I'm too old and slow. I can still pull a trigger though.

The closest you will ever come to another human being is the moment when you take their life. It produces an intimacy closer than sex,and that person becomes forever a part of you. I think this is why those who are unprepared for this suffer PTSD. Of course, those who aren't bothered at all are called psychopaths.

Successful snipers and wetworkers are truly strange individuals. The intimacy of close kills don't affect them as badly as it does most, but they are not psychos. they go on to be relatively peaceful, usually productive members of their society.

Never make the mistake of pissing of an old sniper or wetwork specialist. they may have one kill left in them.

On the contraceptives issue. I have zero problem with a woman taking contraception. I have a big problem being required to pay for them to go out and make whoopie without fear of their own actions. They want the stuff, let them buy it.

Abortion: I have helped women on both sides of this issue. I still feel that it is wrong unless their are extreme extenuating circumstances. Get this. Abortion is infanticide. another form of killing. I don't object to the killing so much, but why should the innocent be the one to pay the price.

Why in the blazes is alcohol legal, but marijuana is outlawed? Makes no sense to me.
Been around alcoholics and occasional drinkers, been around stoners and occasional puffers. The alkies and the stoners are pretty much the same breed. the puffers are easier to get along with than the drunks.

Maybe we should legalize drugs. Make them really cheap. Let those so inclined OD and get out of the rest of society's way.

If a frog farts in a pond, but there is no one to hear it, does it still smell?

I once witnessed a woman smoke a cigarette with her vagina.

Take a spirit walk just one time, then come back and tell me spirits are just a figment of imagination.

Speak softly, but make sure your gun is loaded.

If you are unwilling to use a gun in self defense, don't carry. Those of use who will use ours get distracted by your waving the damn thing around.

If you pick up a gun, intend to point it. If you point it, intend to use it. If you use it, intend to kill. In other words, don't touch it unless you intend to kill someone.

I don't believe drinking a persons blood gives you any special strength, but screwing a guys wife will really piss him off.

The kids around here all think I'm Santa Claus. Big white beard, glasses, smokes a pipe. Yeah right. I'd almost as soon shoot them as look at them.

quality of life can never be given a dollar measure.

Sitting with your son fishing. Taking a young person hunting. Sitting around a campfire spinning yarns, none of these can be measured in money, but they are more precious than gold or gems.

I took an oath long ago to defend the innocent and persecute the guilty. I still stick to this oath even though it has often become very murky just who is what.

I also took an oath to defend my constitution and my country. I think I failed. The constitution is pretty much a dead letter and the country seems to have self elected to go to hell by the fastest route.

Remember those who give up liberty for safety neither deserve or will receive either.

One problem with our democracy building strategy. Liberty has to be earned, it cannot be given. I think our country has forgotten that.

It might suck getting old, but it beats the alternative.

Keep your peckers up and your powder dry.

Summer 2012

Weird thought:
If you're deaf, and drop something on your foot, can anybody else hear you scream?
How do you describe the color blue to a blind person?
Why do people insist on having me sniff flowers? My sniffer was burned out years ago.
Had a black snake crawl up my leg, a few days back. When he realized he was climbing a person, the look of fright in those little eyes was comical (now, at least).
Why, when i get a chance to go fishing, do the fish insist on biting? I really just use it as an excuse to have a little bit of peace.
Ok, it is now official. We have had enough rain for a while. It has rained here 7 days out of 10. Hay has gone bad on the stem. Have crops ready to harvest and can't get in to them. Have a 630 and a 3020 belly down now.

Posted this elsewhere. Yep, some here will give me flak for parts of it.

This is probably going to get me banned some places, and lot of hate mail and un-friends, but I really don't care.
What two consenting adults do behind closed doors should be between those two and their god. Nobody else's business.
Civil Unions granting most, if not all, of the rights of marriage to homosexuals I have no problem with. Marriage, however, is between a man and a woman.
This is really going to piss some folks off here:
If you are 'christian' and support homosexuality, then sorry but you aren't really a christian. The bible teaches that homosexuality is a sin. So, no, you can't support homosexuality and be a christian. Remember, love the sinner, hate the sin.
Government spokespersons, and government employees who use their official positions to either support, or oppose, those who exercise their first amendment rights on these matters should get a long time in a jail cell to think about the meaning of the first amendment.
I am not prejudiced against homosexuals. I believe that they should keep their private business private, as I do. I have no problem with homosexuals serving in the military, or in elected office. I have no problem with homosexuals being able to make decisions for the ones they love, just like others do.
Their lifestyle is not mine, I have no desire to participate in it. I have no desire to hear about it either, especially not blow by blow.
Some of my friends of this persuasion share my views, others do not. they are still, however, my friends.

As some of those here know, 9/11 is a particularly hard time for me. I have spent several years thinking on these matters and feel now that I should put some of them down.

I despise the jihadists with every fiber of my being, not for my personal loss, but for their ideology and the danger they represent to my nation and those still here that I care about. Similar barbarians destroyed ancient Greece, doomed the Roman empire and rampaged thru Europe for centuries. If we as a people do not grow a set of cojones they will be our doom.

The weird part is, is that I understand them fairly well. They are willing to die for what they believe in. Further, they are willing to kill others for what they believe in.
While I have no true objection to either of the above, I do hold that 'innocents' should be kept out of the line of fire. The Jihadists deliberately place civilians there.

I do not, as some others do consider them cowards. I do consider them evil, while understanding that bravery is not a monopoly of those fighting for freedom and justice.
The Jihadists must be destroyed root and branch or the concepts of civilization that we understand and accept will be. There is no other option, it is a binary solution set.
All the hypocrisy of 'cultural understanding, 'acceptance of their culture', 'violence never solves anything', are bunch of horse crap.

We have a simple choice, either we wipe out the Jihadists and the nations that support and breed this particular virulence or we ourselves will be destroyed. Apathy is our greatest enemy here, just as it was for Rome.
We can destroy them or our nation and civilization will face a reign of terror to make Genghis Khan look like a Sunday afternoon tea.
We may not see the end in our lifetimes, but it is coming and the longer we wait to act in a decisive and committed manner, the harder it will be to eradicate this pestilence.

For those who fell in Lebanon, on the Cole, on 9/11, in Afghanistan, Iraq, and the hundred other small warlets out there, you will be remembered.
Whether it is as the Spartans at Thermopylae, buying time for others to come, or like the defenders of Masada, dieing only for the cause that you believe you are right, is yet to be seen.

If we must embrace hegemony to achieve this, then we must do so. Hopefully, it can be done without that particular monstrosity raising its hydra-like head.
Someday, Angel, we will walk among the tall grass, knowing neither hunger nor want, and I shall once again see your smiling face.

Nov 2012

Today is kind of a strange day for me.
I am both sad, frustrated and despairing, but I am also in a way happy and for the first time in a long time, I am free.

I am sad because the greatest nation on earth has decided it no longer wants to be either great or a nation. It will, probably within my lifetime, shatter and dissolve.
I am frustrated in that many Americans decided that immediate gain was more important than the future of their children and grandchildren.
I despair over the fact that the Constitution of the United States has now become nothing more than an interesting historical document and that the Declaration of Independence has become totally irrelevant. i despair because the sacrifices from Lexington and Concorde, to the French hedgerows, thru the waters of the Rhine, on the beaches of Guadalcanal, the Philippines, and all the pacific islands have just become meaningless. We as a nation have sold our birthright for nothing at all.

Yet, I am also happy in a way. No longer must I hold the needs of my nation more dear than my own, for it is no longer the nation I swore my oaths to. My constitution has been **** upon, used as toilet paper by politicians and lawyers for years. As of today it is a dead letter. the oath I swore to uphold it no longer has any value.
I am also free. For almost my entire adult life I have done all in my ability to protect my constitution and nation from the forces that would destroy it, both internal and external. I have lost the fight. the American people have decided to destroy themselves and there is nothing I, or any other, can now do to save this country.
This means I can concentrate on saving my own, my family and friends from the worst of what is coming.
Guess the rest of you are trying to do the same too.
Yep, I am free of a burden I willingly carried for most of my life, and so should feel better. Yet I only feel like getting a good drunk on and crying.

Angel walks my dreams lately. She has never been far from my thoughts, and the regrets have always been there, but more and more she is showing up in my dreams.
Not the silly, half formed types, but the ones you remember because they seem to be significant. Not explaining this real well, but she is there. I guess I really miss my little girl.
