Is Obama an enlightened being?

Think the media isn't downright entralled by the Obammessiah?...

Don't read this immediately after eating...you might choke at the thought of this guy and his kneepads doing his duty as a columnist...

Ready? It goes likes this:

Barack Obama isn't really one of us. Not in the normal way, anyway.

This is what I find myself offering up more and more in response to the whiners and the frowners and to those with broken or sadly dysfunctional karmic antennae - or no antennae at all - to all those who just don't understand and maybe even actively recoil against all this chatter about Obama's aura and feel and MLK/JFK-like vibe.

To them I say, all right, you want to know what it is? The appeal, the pull, the ethereal and magical thing that seems to enthrall millions of people from all over the world, that keeps opening up and firing into new channels of the culture normally completely unaffected by politics?

No, it's not merely his youthful vigor, or handsomeness, or even inspiring rhetoric. It is not fresh ideas or cool charisma or the fact that a black president will be historic and revolutionary in about a thousand different ways. It is something more. Even Bill Clinton, with all his effortless, winking charm, didn't have what Obama has, which is a sort of powerful luminosity, a unique high-vibration integrity.

Dismiss it all you like, but I've heard from far too many enormously smart, wise, spiritually attuned people who've been intuitively blown away by Obama's presence - not speeches, not policies, but sheer presence - to say it's just a clever marketing ploy, a slick gambit carefully orchestrated by hotshot campaign organizers who, once Obama gets into office, will suddenly turn from perky optimists to vile soul-sucking lobbyist whores, with Obama as their suddenly evil, cackling overlord.

Here's where it gets gooey. Many spiritually advanced people I know (not coweringly religious, mind you, but deeply spiritual) identify Obama as a Lightworker, that rare kind of attuned being who has the ability to lead us not merely to new foreign policies or health care plans or whatnot, but who can actually help usher in a new way of being on the planet, of relating and connecting and engaging with this bizarre earthly experiment. These kinds of people actually help us evolve. They are philosophers and peacemakers of a very high order, and they speak not just to reason or emotion, but to the soul.

This guy needs a friggin' napkin with that Obama splooge dripping from his chin...

Amazing how you take the opinion of a COLUMNIST and extrapolate it out onto the entire MEDIA...

That is the kind of thing that kept me from supporting him initially. But that isn't his fault. People are like sheep. Media people too.

I have no doubt you could supply many, many examples of people endorsing Obama.
Just like I could supply many, many examples of people in the media thinking highly of McCain.

Should I dig up the quotes from people who thought Bush was "ordained"???

This is all meaningless in the big picture in trying to stereo-type the ENTIRE MEDIA on the subject.

I didn't say a thing about endorsing...

This is about fawning...

You don't even need to read the story...The editors already give you the headline of what they want you to know...

He is charismatic and intelligent. I disagree with the author that he doesn't seem one of us. He seems exactly to understand people's feelings and address them. He talks to the common man in terms that inspire.
I don't think he is evil, but I don't know if he has my vote. I am a non conformist at heart. Time will tell if he has a real message for my understanding.
But yeah, Obama has it. And you are born with it. It isn't beauty or education. We cannot even describe it. So we call it it.
And ,baby, he's got it.

But having "it" should NEVER be a deciding factor when it comes to electing someone for the most important job in the world..

And worse, having "it" is the ONLY factor Obama has...no executive experience...no military experience...no substance...no record...

It's like marrying someone based solely on their looks or wallet...

I agree, but people do that all the time too. On the other hand should we feel safer if we have a stodgey old furt who just says "stay the course"

You sound like me a while back. I kept saying where's the beef? In the end none of those backgrounds are required to be POTUS. You can be a top executive and still run your company in to the ground, Exxon is a good example of that. You can have military experience and still walk in to a quagmire with eyes wide open. Or you can have none of those experiences and still make a great President. There is no set of experiences that make a great POTUS. Its how they deal with events that face them.
From the little I have seen. I like they way he handles himself. He is thoughtful it seems to me. And deliberative. And he seems intelligent. I only know him as well as you. But I have seen all of them play dirty except him. He doesn't seem to feel the need to attack people for advantage. Which seems mature for his age. And I like that way of dealing with situations. So as of right now I am going to give him my vote.
I am not a fanatic. I already have issue disagreements with Obama. But I think the number one issue is to stop the partisan gamesmanship. It has gotten out of control over the past 15 years or so. And someone needs to put an end to it. At this time he seems most able to do that to me. So I wish him luck.

End of rant.
