Default Pet peeves

I thought we could use a thread for un-important things that just sort of bug you or tick you off.

My first one today

I am watching a morning news show with four retiring senators sitting around a table being interviewed. That doesn't bug me that much. What does is that they all have a fresh newly opened bottle of water in front of them. When I was a kid people were able to survive for 10 minutes on TV without having to have a bottle of water handy. What has happened to us where we feel we will dry up if we don't buy a bottle of water to carry.

I doubt if one of these people asked for a bottle of water. I doubt they will even take a sip. They will get up and head to some ecology event probably after leaving the show and the will give a speech about remembering it's the little things we all do that make a difference.

So now some studio employee will pour out those bottles of untouiched water and send the bottle to the landfill. Then they will run and go get more bottles of water for the next parched guests.

How did we make it 20 years ago with the carnage of dried our carcasses everywhere????

OK I know it wasn't important but stilll.

Wow. I thought I was the only one who noticed this.

One of my pet peeves is the sound of people eating, chewing, swallowing. I don't know what it is but even when someone's mouth is closed and I can hear them chew (especially when they do that chew and breath combo loudly), I just get this sense of pent up anger and rage when I hear it, gah

Sure it's important - those plastic bottles spend hundreds of years in the landfills and don't disappear, we are polluting the environment with them. Television lights in a studio setting are really hot if you sit there for any length of time and half an hour is a long time under them. Remember being a kid in summertime? All we did from sun up to sun down, was play, usually baseball, in the hot sun. As a kid you use all your energy daily - then went home, and lots of us had mother's who kept plastic water bottles of ice water in the fridge for a cold drink. No, we didn't dry up playing. One of the easy answers, and few are willing to accept it, is that transportable Brita filtered water bottle which allows you to just fill up from your facet or at the mall, and get excellent drinking water. Remember, when you use bottled water, it contains no floride, which is automatically in the public water supply, and we haven't ever seemed to have any problems in the U.S. with our public water supply. The plastic bottle fad is just that a fad, one we could easily eliminate by buying the Brita bottle, besides, those millions of bottles are made from oil. For some reason, the population doesn't trust our public water supply, without any reason, and also many of those bottled water companies simply get the water from public water facets.......stan

Those incredible annoying qualifiers on drug commercials which take up 3/4 of the commercial time, stating all the possible side effects that can occur from using the amazing new drug for depression, COPD, alzheimer's - whatever, the best one, see your doctor for an erection lasting over four hours on the erectile dysfunction drugs. Just shows how indoctrinated we have become to a litigation society, particularly on the medical malpractice or accidental side. Hmmm.....if I had an erection lasting four hours - think I would head for Ocean Drive on Miami's South Beach and take a chance, go out with a bang............Stan]

Not everybody is on public water, nor does everybody want their water with flouride in it. Some people on wells have iron problems, sulfer problems, or very hard water.

Some people may even find it of interest to know what is added to public water, and the effects it can have on you and your health. After all, chlorine is just so darn tasty.

The water is a prop. People mouths get very dry when nervous and even professionals suffer but cover their insecurities up.
