Default Romney’s $2 Billion Sacrifice for America

Christopher Ruddy's Perspective: Mitt Romney passed up well over a billion dollars to do public service.

It’s an amazing statement, but it’s true.

If you watched the media, you would think Romney is a greedy elitist. However, the three recent presidential debates showed the Republican presidential candidate to be a man passionately concerned about the future of America, and determined to do something about it.

But the true level of Romney’s passion about this country are in the numbers — his personal financial numbers, that is.

A recent Forbes magazine article by Nathan Vardi headlined, “Mitt Romney: The Most Expensive Political Career in American History.”

As Vardi observes, “Lots of people pay a high price for getting into politics, but no one has likely given up more, at least financially, than Mitt Romney.”

Just how much?

Well, Forbes estimates Romney would be worth around $2 billion if he had stayed at Bain Capital rather than run for office.

Romney’s $2 Billion Sacrifice would be more accurate.
Proclaiming it is "for America"...
It's obvious that there's 47% of America he doesn't care about...
... and what's even more pathetic is that there are a lot of Republicans who think that's a great thing.

Why? Who earned that salary?

Really? That is why he donated 1/3 of his income to charity, because he is a greedy rich guy. That is why he left Bain to run the Olympics, for the money. Yeah sure.

In case you forgot, President Obama is a multimillionaire too. Funny how John Kerry's wealth, nearly twice that of Romney's, wasn't an issue when he was running.

Is giving money to a closed society really giving to charity?? I don't care about Romney's wealth but he didn't sacrifice anything. Lets get back to reality. Thanks

If by closed society you mean the Mormon church, their charities are provided to all in need just like the Catholic charities etc.

Your claim that Romney sacrificed nothing is utter nonsense. He could have used the $4 million on indulging himself.

You can worship at the feet of Romney if you want to. Funny that you would trash Obama who went to work in the community rather than using his position leaving law school to work in a top firm. He could have chased millions as well. But I suppose that would be different.
