Veteran offended by Romney?s comment - MariettaTimes.com | News, Sports, Jobs, Ohio, Community Information - The Marietta Times

Dear Mr. Romney,

On behalf of all Ohio and West Virginia Disabled Veterans I apologize for being a Tax Slacker. Yep, you said that 47% of Americans don't pay our fair share and that we are the problem. Tax Slackers. It is a sad thing to admit that my Veterans disability benefits are not taxed. I am equally ashamed of my aged parents living it up on all of that Social Security and Medicare untaxed benefits they are receiving. Also, I really must have my daughter drop out of college and get a job of mowing the lawn at your country club so she can pay her fair share too. The world doesn't need any more doctors or teachers or skilled trades anymore. I'll tell you what Mr. Romney, you give me back my legs, and I'll get a job so you won't have to worry about anything as you sail away on your yacht.

I think the main targets of Romney and all other working Americans are the first, second, and third generation "welfare queens" and drug addicts and "you owe me" mentality type imbeciles who won't get off their lazy asses to work.

That's not what Willard said. He said 47% of Americans, which includes Veterans, Elderly, and poor people who work for a living. You keep telling yourself he's some kind of upstanding, decent man who wants to help this country, those of us who see through his lies know him for the snake he is who is only worried about the wealthy and his own offshore bank accounts.

I'm not really impressed. Just more hyperbole and class warfare meant to color a truthful statement on Romney's part as some kind of anti-veteran, anti-poor people, anti-elderly, anti-disabled attack on his part. Which it was not; it was a statement about those who can work but won't.

I am with Romney on this one. And no, I don't care that he is rich. He has the right to be rich if he is successful. Being rich doesn't make him a bad person nor does it disqualify him from successful leadership.

I think this whole letter by a "war vet" was made up.

You go believing what you want about Romney. It will not sway me in the slightest to cast my vote for the Kenyan puppy.

Certainly, you are free to discount what the guy said...it was just his opinion.

Oh, and being in the 47% doesn't make one a victim, or lacking the initiative to take responsibility for one's life, or a bad actor in our society, either. He picked this fight and offended many.

I'm just saying people get offended when none was intended. But that's the problem with "letters" like this: they seize on some semantic minutia and then blow it up into something it never was. I could state something as simple as "The sky is blue" and, sure enough, some moron would come along and take extreme offense at the statement on some tiny little technicality that just happens to be his pet peeve.

Further, I really don't even believe this letter was from a real person. These types of things rarely are.

That is what got Ronald Reagan elected. How did that work out? High unemployment and a beggining of the dismantling of our industry and livelihood.

Do you know what Ronald Reagan would say if he were alive?

"Help! Help! get me out of this box! I can't breathe!"
