Taxing for redistribution to the "less fortunate" is a foundational tenant of secular Progressive socialists.
Where are you from? We have always had taxes in America. Money spent for the common good. In don't get where you came from becuase you always seem shocked that in America we tax everyone to do things for the common good.

That is not correct. A temporary tax was instituted in 1862 during the Civil War and dropped immediately after. We didn't have a permanent tax until 1913. So actually, we have had more time without taxes than we have had with taxes.

And your statement about being for the common good might have held true originally, but it certainly doesn't hold true today.

Bad contention.....

Mikeyy is right.....

Paying taxes in America is a fact of life. If you look at the income tax tables for the last 60-80 years you'd be shocked at how much was paid in percentage wise to what we pay today......

The rich always pay more and that's the way it's been set up......

That's part of the deal to get to live in the greatest country on planet Earth.....

Just my opinion.......

Nice try to change the subject from taxes for redistribution to all taxes for the common good. My comment did not deal with all taxes only those that redistribute wealth.

Please stick to the subject.

And were things better before 1913? It seems like repugs want to go back to those good old days.
