That billboard will be up for six months and the story behind why it’s up there is great:
Quote:
The billboard reads: “I believe in an America where the separation of church and state is absolute — John F. Kennedy.” The billboard quotes JFK’s famous speech as a presidential candidate before the Greater Houston Ministerial Association on Sept. 12, 1960.

“The deterioration of respect for this constitutional principle since that speech is breathtaking,” said Annie Laurie Gaylor, FFRF co-president.

The billboard was donated by FFRF member Michael Zargarov of Houston. Zargarov kindly gave FFRF the space after selling a pair of chairs from the movie, “The Ten Commandments.” The buyer just happened to own a local billboard company and offered Zargarov the space as payment for one of the chairs, valued at $10,000.

“It was very generous of Michael to think of FFRF when it came time to select a billboard design,” Gaylor added.

If anyone wants to offer me billboard space, I’d be happy to do your math homework for you.
Is there going to be competition for the bible verse boards? I've almost run off the road trying to read the message of the day on some of those.

Naw, people quickly learn to ignore things like gum on the sidewalk, doggy poo in the gutter bird spat on the statues. This thing will soon join that background effluvia in the general awareness.

It amazes me how many people refuse to recognize how separation of church and state is a good thing.

From a pragmatic and truthful approach, it would appear that for some people their problem with Shariah law is NOT the issue of religious enforcement in law...
... but rather that it sets up competition for their own religious ideals to be enshrined with legal enforcement.

One cannot proclaim the country has "freedom of religion" if I am forced to observe a law because a religion has it as a rule.

I'm sorry, but there is no "separation of Church and State" in the constitution. Nope. Not there. Not even in the mystical "emanations and penumbras." That's just something they made up. Look for your own self.

You guys lost the capability to make that counter-argument with the "corporations are people" b.s.
Show me where THAT is in the constitution, or be consistent and say that the SCOTUS ruling is flawed because it's not there...
THEN I'll think about taking your reply seriously...

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion
, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

In o t h e r words...
you cannot make a law stating marriage is between a man and a woman.

The inference in the amendment is that government stays out of church matters and visa versa.

Wrongo! At least according the sane reading of the words. Each and every State was to be free to pass its own religious laws, as they were doing for decades after the First Amendment became law. And President was in absolutely no way bound.

Again, some silly person with nothing better to do and a black robe, made up the separation thing all by their lonesome. They should have been ignored as a lunatic.

Corporations are chartered by the States. We are discussing Federal Law. Oh, and corporations are people.
