Hypocrobamacy shifts up a gear...

Democrats Lament Too Much Money in Politics as Obama Heads to California for Five More Fundraisers

Quote:
After their crushing defeat in Wisconsin the coordinated reaction from the White House and their media mouthpieces was sniveling about too much money in politics while ignoring the millions they spent themselves in a futile effort to oust Scott Walker. They’re going to have a tough time keeping a straight face as their party’s leader, fresh off a dozen fundraisers since last Friday, heads to California yet again for another five shakedowns. The irony obviously escapes these idiots.

Quote:
President Obama’s campaign is increasingly focusing its fundraising efforts on California, where Obama on Wednesday will make his third trip in a month to attend five fundraisers.

Silicon Valley and Hollywood are Obama’s hottest spots to raise money, and the spigots have opened wider since Obama last month went public with his personal endorsement of gay marriage, which went over particularly well with California donors.

Who was the candidate that was going to run on public funding then didn't? Hmm, I wonder who that was.

McCain a hypocrite on campaign finance? You do remember the campaign finance law was popularly called McCain Feingold don't you? That he ran for President using public financing while Obama was gathering cash with both hands from the special interest groups he was vowing to purge from his administration?

Where is the hypocrisy? The Campaigner in Chief berates the justices for the Citizens decision then encourages his own super PACs.

I could buy that IF the President was activley seeking to minimize the effect of big donors on elections, but he's not. If anything, he's looking to maximize it. There are steps he could be taking (like setting an example as GOOD leaders do) that would show his support for getting the big $$ out of politics. But as long as he so fully embraces this, he loses credibility on the issue. I understand that sometimes you have to make compromises to get things done, but in this case it's not so much making a compromise as it is fully, openly and completely embracing what you are decrying.
