Default Bruce Springsteen: 'The boss' rails against 'very ugly' political climate

I just HAD to post this...The laughs average 5 a sentence...

Bruce Springsteen: 'The boss' rails against 'very ugly' political climate surrounding Barack Obama

Quote:
The 61 year-old rock legend, a high-profile supporter of the US President, railed against critics for their use of the “most extreme language” to describe “the most modest reforms” being introduced by Mr Obama.

The singer-songwriter, whose song The Rising became a theme of the Democrats' "Vote for Change" events, said there was a “tremendous distortion of information” in American politics.

The "Born in the USA singer", who has won 20 Grammys award, an Oscar and sold more than 120m records worldwide, appeared to also blame wealthy Washington lobbyists for hampering Mr Obama’s reform agenda.

"There's a widespread political consciousness that's perhaps deeper in Europe than it is in the States,” he told the Sunday Times magazine.

“The climate [in America] is very, very ugly for getting things done. The moderate reforms President Obama fought to make are called Marxist, socialist.

“I mean, the most extreme language is put into play to describe the most modest reforms that would move the economy back towards serving a majority of its citizens.”
That last line's a doozy...

I'm waiting for the government approved study that shows that playing guitar and singing like you're chewing gravel for 40 years makes you mentally retarded...

Hah- reminds me of around a year ago when "Sting" decided that Obama was some sort of miracle bestowed on us by God. Singers should just stick to what they do best- play court jester.

Was The Boss in a coma during Bush's tenure? This doesn't hold a candle to that era.

It's important to remember the Boss is a big fan of Fidel's Cuba. With this in mind it's not surprising he thinks Obama's agenda so far has been tepid. Naturally Springsteen envisions an environment where he would be free to pursue his craft unlike Cuba where the mildest critique of the dictator will earn you 20 years in a work camp.

I thought Springsteen used to represent the "Working man"? Not anymoe it seems. He is just another Socialist Liberal a-hole.

Everyone else on this thread has had an opinion. right or wrong doesn't matter. You on the other hand have thrown out made up non-facts (again). Gonna have to call a mulligan.

#1. It's THE Boss.
#2 Springsteen is a very credible spokesperson. He has been pretty mild mannered and even shy most of his life.

He speaks pretty much the truth. The whole rage against Obama campaign is just another "shock and awe" scenario like the one perpetrated on Jimmy Carter. Then Clinton with his knowledge of the Republican machine beat them at their own game till they went for the throat and dragged his personal indiscretions into the Whitewater investigation (which turned up nada) to the tune we tax payers paid for dearly.
Now that "trickle down" has proved not only an abysmal failure, it has actually brought down the largest economy on earth, the blame is laid once again at the feet of a Democrat with such a vengeance that people (thanks to the viral rage) forget who actually did this to them. Bravo, GOP, Brav-the flooking-O.
