It just irks me that GM would shred never before driven vehicles when names of people were on lists, willing to pay high prices to buy them.

Methinks they were pressured by the petroleum corporations.
Hey, I'm a global warming skeptic, and even I thought that one sucked.

As to who to blame, as I recall the documentary goes into how complicated the blame game is there. There's lots of blame to parcel around.

One I remember was the idea of maintenance. Car dealers make a big chunk of their profit from parts and repair. The EV didn't require maintenance. It didn't burn as hot.

What do you think of the lease deal on this current volt? What was it $350 dollars a month, or something? I wouldn't buy one, but that lease deal doesn't seem that horrible to me. What am I missing? No maintenance, cheaper fuel, wouldn't that level things out for even the average guy. Oh wait...$2500 up front. Forget I said anything.

Not a problem, I am not offended.

I'm not in the market for anything but a Buick, but yeah I think this Volt holds its own on looks, and I think that cause basically---I don't like the looks of anything much BUT a Buick. And I think Lexars, Pulsars and BMF's all look generic nowadays though once upon a time each had a definite style.

BTW did I forget to mention I like Buicks?
They only made one good-looking Buick

A 3 year lease plus the down payment ends up with just under $26K the lessor has in equity in the vehicle. How much demand will there be for a 3 year old vehicle that gets less than 40 miles on a full electric charge if you use the AC or the heater or the radio and requires premium gas? The electricity to charge the car isn't free either.

Honda is already working on an electric vehicle that gets 2.5 times the mileage per charge. Do you think the other manufacturers will stand still?

What's going to happen is we will hear all kinds of rhetoric praising GM for opening up this new market in clean, green cars with a punchline that we should bail them out with an infusion of tax dollars as a reward for taking the risk. Welcome to the new Progryssve economy where profits are inconsequential compared to the public good determined by our betters. Just look for the union label when you make that car buying choice or you will soon not have a choice period.
