Democrats Approach Ramming Speed

Quote:
Four months left until the November election. Time is running out on the Obama agenda.

Not the time to ease up, but to push harder because soon it will be too late.

Democrats are approaching ramming speed trying desperately to complete the picture, having taken over the health care system by a hair.

Chris Dodd, the Senator from Aetna and Fannie Mae, has put together financial reforms which create new bureaucracies without addressing underlying structural issues, causing even Russ Feingold to object.

Harry Reid and Henry Waxman are maneuvering to get cap-and-trade passed, a job destroying measure while Democrats misleadingly excoriate Republicans over the failure to extend unemployment benefits.

Obama today raises the stakes, announcing a big immigration reform push, while refusing to strengthen border security.

We have seen this movie before:

Quote:
The larger political message of this new proposal is that Mr. Obama and Democrats have no intention of compromising on an incremental reform, or of listening to Republican, or any other, ideas on health care. They want what they want, and they're going to play by Chicago Rules and try to dragoon it into law on a narrow partisan vote via Congressional rules that have never been used for such a major change in national policy. If you want to know why Democratic Washington is "ungovernable," this is it.
We know the ending:

seems as though Pelosi got the memo also..

BREAKING: Pelosi Sneaked Approval of Vote on Debt Commission Recommendations into Rule Regarding War Funding, Vote Happening Tonight

FDL has learned that in a last minute move, Nancy Pelosi sneaked language into the rule that the House is voting on tonight regarding war funding.

Embedded in the rule is the requirement that the House will vote on the deficit commission’s recommendations in the lame duck session if they pass the Senate.

The commission, co-chaired by Erskine Bowles and Alan Simpson, is packed with members who favor the raising the retirement age to 70, means testing, and private accounts. Many also support investing 20% of the Social Security trust fund in the stock market.

It’s ironic that yesterday Pelosi sent out press releases criticizing John Boehner for expressing the very same positions on cutting Social Security benefits that Jim Clyburn, Joe Biden and Steny Hoyer have. She’s putting this language into the rule in order to deflect responsibility from herself when it comes to the floor for a vote during a lame duck session, since without her approval that could never happen.

Pelosi knows full well what the committee wants to do. The fix is in.

Happening on CSPAN now.

Pelosi’s office number: (202) 225-4965

Update: Pelosi’s phone is not being answered, and not taking messages.

Update II: The rule is only good for the 111th Congress — it expires Jan 5, 2011, so a lame duck Congress would have to vote on it.

Update III: Pelosi got her wish. The House will have to give an up-or-down vote to whatever the Catfood Commission recommends. With Republicans and Blue Dog votes alone, cuts to Social Security benefits should have no trouble passing

And if you think this is a Democrat vs Republican issue, you haven't got a clue what's actually going on right now.

I'm happy to see them reveal themselves and continue to self-destruct . . . unless and until the awful words pass Obama's lips: "state of emergency."

there are talks of evacuating up to 5 million people from the gulf region due to the toxic nature of this spill.

I can see the Press release's now.

All FEMA wanted to do was evacuate the Gulf Coast states to 'protect' us, on Presidential Order.

It’s just a shame that all of these millions of poor “displaced” people aren’t able to be in their local municipalities in order to vote in the elections, so we are forced to suspend the elections until we can have a “Fair” vote that these people will be able to participate in.

Don't count your chickens until:
  1. The Congress has acquired that portion of the chickens in question that
are owed to favored demographic groups who in times past have suffered
    unjust denial of Poultry Rights.

  2. An appropriate deduction of fowl has been made to compensate persons
who have been unfairly denied chickens through the unfair distribution of
hard work, initiative, effort, self sacrifice and dedication.

  3. The Administration has determined the acceptable level of chicken
ownership above which you would be considered guilty of greed, and
therefore required to do a penance in the form of Campaign contributions,
surrender of chicks, and public approbation.

  4. A Blue Ribbon Committee of experts on topics unrelated in any manner to
chickens or dietary health has determined the outstanding, blatant, and
heretofore overlooked health hazards of chicken production and determined
the appropriate fines, regulations, restrictions and penalties.

  5. An EPA approved remediation plan is in place and overseen by a specialy
established bureaucracy to deal with hazardous waste in the form of
    discarded egg shells.

Oh man, I'm clever!
