It's obvious whoever wrote the comments after the article has very limited knowledge of the effect depression can have on human behavior.

Well, I know someone who sympathized with his "own ideas" of justice, and the media has never posted it:

Hey, I get depressed.
That doesn't mean I go out and hurt someone one. Or try and blow up a plane. Or have a jihad (sounds like something you should take penicillan for).

If your clincally depressed, get a counselor, or medications, or pound a pillow.

Most people who are depressed don't hurt anyone. Often the symptoms of depression aren't obvious because some folks are good at keeping it hidden.

I don't have any sympathy for him either. He chose to attempt to kill a plane load of innocent people so he deserves whatever punishment they happen to give him. Personally I would like to see his ass fried.

Whatever took place to make this guy act the way he did involved a lot more than simply being sad like the title of the thread suggested. The follow up comment to the article, which is what I commented on, made a feeble attempt at simplifying a complex medical condition.
