Palin Ft Bragg Visit Opened To Media, With Restrictions

Quote:

Army officials at Fort Bragg have relented somewhat and now say a small "pool" of journalists will be allowed to cover Sarah Palin's book-tour visit to the base on Monday. However, the journalists won't be permitted to interview Palin or her supporters who attend her book signing.
At first, they wanted to prohibit the 1st Amendament 100%, but now believe 50% is good enough...:mad :mad :mad

Unfortunately it is necessary to keep the military separated from politics.
The real question might be however more along the lines of......There can be NO RESTRICTION of the supporters (including their families) of the military from being interviewed and how's come we still can't get "TRUTH" from the media.
Palin is a rock star.......I wonder if she can even sing?

Sarah Palin is insane.
I'm so glad she's not a heartbeat away from being president.

This actually is a violation of the first amendment. Government is using its power to restrict the speech of journalists.

If the coddling the islamist terrorist that shot up Fort Hood isn't proof enough this ought to convince the most hardened doubter that our army led by cowards, knaves and PC wackos.

God help us.

It's not "coddling." It's this little thing called due process of law -- which is actually profoundly Amercian, and something our troops have fought and died for on more than one occassion. It's supposed to be difficult to prosecute somebody in this country. You know -- that whole burden of proof is on the state/prosecution thing. It protects us all.
It was/is easy to prosecute people in places like Nazi Germany and Red China. Would you rather live in a society like that?

He'll be put on trial. Given the overwhelming evidence, he'll found guilty and then executed.
That's hardly coddling.

He was already undergoing "due process". Never ever before in History has anyone been picked up on a foreign battlefield, imprisoned for years, and then brought to America for a civilian trial. It is AGAINST the Geneva Convention to do so.
He WAS ON TRIAL...Obama stopped it and is now wasting time, money, and resources for political positioning. In order to get relief from those hounding him for breaking his UNREALISTIC promises he is "perhaps" gonna get the FIRST trial started somewhere near the time he said he would have them ALL done. January. How old is KSM? I need to figure out if its a good bet whether he dies of old age before his execution. Never mind....how much do you want to bet?

The military operates under "different rules". It's called the UCMJ. Universal Code of Military Justice.
Members of the military do not go to civilian court they go to TRIBUNALS. Tribunals are "good enough" for our military but somehow an ILLEGAL ENEMY COMBATANT gets a full fledged civilian trial?

The control of the military and military bases does not include normal "Constitutional Rights" that is why it is not wrong of them to control the press or their own uniformed personnel. In fact it is necessary in order for the military to function. Ever heard of "military secrets"?

It is a military installation. Why are they allowing a book signing to take place at all? Do they do stuff like that all the time?
If so I hope it is not open to the general public. Ft. Hood residents have been through enough for a time, I think.

Oh yes they were. The first WTC bombers were brought here and prosicuted. And BTW KSM wasn't on a battlefield. He was in a house.
