Unions To Take On Conservative Groups Health Care Town Halls

Quote:
The nation's largest federation of labor organizations has promised to directly engage with boisterous conservative protesters at Democratic town halls during the August recess.

In a memo sent out on Thursday, AFL-CIO President John Sweeney outlined the blueprint for how the union conglomerate would step up recess activities on health care reform and other topics pertinent to the labor community. The document makes clear that Obama allies view the town hall forums as ground zero of the health care debate. It also uses the specter of the infamous 2000 recount "Brooks Brothers" protest to rally its members to the administration's side.

"The principal battleground in the campaign will be town hall meetings and other gatherings with members of Congress in their home districts," reads the memo. "We want your help to organize major union participation to counter the right-wing "Tea-Party Patriots" who will try to disrupt those meetings, as they've been trying to do to meetings for the last month.
Obama's healthcare plan is losing ground by the minute and the Democrats are getting crushed trying to answer legitimate questions because they don't have any at these meetings...

So now comes "The Chicago Way"...

When the Boss speaks, people move. The unions and Pres. Obama are far too tightly bound for me and this kind of thuggery is just another example of that realtionship's impropiety.

Yep, I've seen union thugs at work up close and personal. It doesn't surprise me one bit that Obama would employ these kinds of thuggish tactics.

But remember we aren't suppose to worry about our liberty or freedom under him.

So what it boils down to is the unions against the corporate lobbyists in the town Hall meetings. The unions are local and the bussed-in anti-reformers aren't - and they are being paid to disrupt. The unions aren't paid, but the brothers are as loud as the lobbyist shills are. Everyone claiming their right to free speech.

Ps, I don't think Obama needed to wave a baton to enlist the unions; I am sure they though it up all by themselves.

This is a show worth watching; I'm stocking up on popcorn. Go unions!

ALLthe folks involved are regular citizens, The protesters at Steny's disastrous town hall were photo-id'd as employees of lobbying experts. Not even local regular citizens, they were bussed in.

The unions just happen to be on the other side, so if they engage with the non-locals- it will be to shout down their disruptions. One thing, I think they can bring in much larger contingents to deal with the opponents, than the anti-health plan folks can bring.

This is a chess game on both sides. "I'm bettin' on the Union" Pete Seegar

You see...what's really going on is...
The people protesting & disrupting are being paid...however...
It's not what you think...
The Obama admin is paying people to pose as irrational disrupting fools to marginalize descent on the healthcare issue...

Descent is no longer patriotic
now that the "other" side is in power

Just to add this:FreedomWorks: 'Turn Up The Heat' And Make Sure Dems Are Afraid | TPMDC

Turn Up the Heat in August: Help Defeat ObamaCare and Cap-and-Trade | FreedomWorks
This is a sponsored corporate entity, NOT a grassroots organization.

They pass out instructions on how to interrupt Town Halls using tactics which are just likethe ones used at the Town Hall Meetings.

They claim to be like Moveon, BUT Moveon's funds for everything are from the grass roots, not rich Republican private interests.

Wow...That's quite a jump...

So if "I" were to create a website that says "Go to a townhall and voice your dissent on a certain issue, and here are some suggestions on how to", all-of-a-sudden it's not grassroots anymore?...

Now compare that to unions, who are advised by people they PAY UNION DUES TO AND RELY ON FOR EMPLOYMENT NEGOTIATIONS...

Maybe you'd like to know who the biggest astroturfer in the country is...

The Secret Side of David Axelrod

Quote:
The Obama campaign's chief strategist is a master of "Astroturfing" and has a second firm that shapes public opinion for corporations

From the same address in Chicago's River North neighborhood, Axelrod operates a second business, ASK Public Strategies, that discreetly plots strategy and advertising campaigns for corporate clients to tilt public opinion their way. He and his partners consider virtually everything about ASK to be top secret, from its client roster and revenue to even the number of its employees. But customers and public records confirm that it has quarterbacked campaigns for the Chicago Children's Museum, ComEd, Cablevision, and AT&T.

ASK's predilection for operating in the shadows shows up in its work. On behalf of ComEd and Comcast, the firm helped set up front organizations that were listed as sponsors of public-issue ads. Industry insiders call such practices "Astroturfing," a reference to manufacturing grassroots support. Alderman Brendan Reilly of the 42nd Ward, who has been battling the Children's Museum's relocation plans, describes ASK as "the gold standard in Astroturf organizing. This is an emerging industry, and ASK has made a name for itself in shaping public opinion and manufacturing public support."
And where's Axelrod now that the campaign is over?...

Same place...Captain Astroturf is right by Obama's side...

Quote:
David M. Axelrod (born February 22, 1955) is an American political consultant based in Chicago, Illinois. He is best known as a top advisor to President Barack Obama, first in Obama's 2004 campaign for the U.S. Senate in Illinois and later as chief strategist for Obama's 2008 presidential campaign. Following the 2008 Election, he was appointed as Senior Advisor to President Obama
So what you're attempting to tell us is that, President Obama, who has the "gold standard" in Astroturf organizing whispering in his ear, is LOSING the battle for healthcare approval because OTHER PEOPLE are doing the job better...

...ummmm....yeah...

Hi redd,
I don't agree with you on any of that.

I don't know how you got that idea. Those recommended techniques are disruptive and not conducive to reasonable discussion.

For those few old folks who believe Medicare is not socialized medicine, public opinion is not the measure of the bills that will be passed. It is the congress who will control it, and that because they have the votes-or not.
