Mock Flier Creates Controversy Over Intolerance

Quote:
More than 100 fliers posted around GW Monday mocked a conservative student group's upcoming events and drew outrage for their offensive language.

The posters, which were headlined, "Hate Muslims? So Do We!!!," claimed to promote Islamo-Fascism Awareness week, an actual week-long series of events sponsored by the Young America's Foundation (YAF) that intends to denounce radical Islam.

However, the fliers are credited to the "Students for Conservativo-Fascism Awareness," a fictitious and unregistered student organization. The fliers also include this post-script: "PS Seriously, do a google video search for 'The Power of Nightmares.'"

"The Power of Nightmares" is a 2005 BBC documentary that compares the American neo-conservative movement to the radical Islamist movement.

The parody has sparked a discussion about tolerance at GW, prompting University President Steven Knapp to issue a statement reaffirming the GW's commitment to racial and religious tolerance.

"This flier does not represent, in any way, shape or form, the views of the administration of GW. For that matter, I believe I am safe in saying it also does not represent the views of our faculty or student body," said Knapp in a statement sent out earlier in the day.

Fifteen student organizations led by the GW Muslim Student Association, and including YAF, the Islamic Alliance for Justice and the Jewish Student Association, signed a statement expressing that they were "appalled at this incidence of hate and Islamophobia."
That's what we're dealing with now folks...

Instead of just disagreeing with political opponents and having discussions, the opposition to the Conservatives at GWU would rather just make up stuff and "pretend" it's coming from the other side...

A couple of days ago I wrote this...

Are there ACTUAL Islamophobes by the definition of "Scared of all people of Islam"?...Of course there are...

You'll find that in every race, color and creed that exists...

But there are those that tell you that EVERYONE who disagess with a certain Islamic Mullah's or Cleric's screed or Islamic law is an "Islamophobe"...

...especially the part where MILLIONS of people are either actively participating or complicitly supporting the creation of a worldwide Caliphate by the killing of "non-believers"...

It is used, much like the "victim card" is, by people not in the majority of a selected group to stifle all reasonable debate by immediately accusing "the other side" of chauvanism, racism, partisanship & bigotry without actually discussing the issue at hand.
This is THEE perfect example of my commentary...:

And, of course, these morons didn't think of the consequences of their actions...

IslamOnline is reporting on the story WITHOUT mentioning(even knowing?) that the posters were phonies...

They're giving it the 'ol "See what Americans are really like?" treatment...

Islamo-Fascism on US Campus

Quote:
CAIRO — University campuses across the United States are becoming the stage for an anti-Islam campaign that includes hate posters and a series of activities to rally students against the alleged threat Islam poses to the US and the world.

George Washington University administration, faculty and students came back from the weekend to find the campus painted with posters and fliers with the message: "HATE MUSLIMS? SO DO WE!!!"

The fliers, posted even on kiosks and mailboxes on standard letter-sized paper, featured a picture of a man next to a diagram describing a "typical Muslim."

Some features mentioned include "venom from mouth," "suicide vest," and "peg-leg for smuggling children and heroin."

The posters were quickly removed and the administration is investigating the matter.

"There is no place for expressions of hatred on our campus," Steven Knapp, president of the university, said in a statement.

"We do not condone, and we will not tolerate, the dissemination of fliers or other documents that vilify any religious, ethnic, or racial group."

Fifteen student organizations led by the GW Muslim Student Association, the Islamic Alliance for Justice and the Jewish Student Association issued a statement expressing that they were "appalled at this incidence of hate and Islamophobia."
Thanks a-holes...

You're the best propaganda tool since Pelosi shuffled off to Syria...:

If the Young America's foundation is a real group then the group who put these fliers out should be sued up the a$$ for defamation/libel, ect.

There should definitely be some consequences for that bull$hit. Little cowardly fvcks.

The second part is hilarious?...:

I find it scary...

People doing things under false pretenses and having it get picked up by international groups and organization CAN be funny, but in instances such as this, it can (and is) used to further negative perceptions across the globe...

Tha ramifications of this are hundreds, thousands, or tens of thousands of people who've read this story and are now believers in the statement that "American colleges are Islamophobic"...

Listen, I really don't think that the marginal cost of this is sufficient to make it so we can't appreciate the humor in the fact that a lot of our enemies are fucking stupid enough to take this shit seriously. I say that because I'd be really surprised if anyone who takes this shit seriously has not already been swayed against us with the infinite opportunities of more validity than this which have been provided.

i disagree...

This is exactly what recruits terrorism...

People telling their minions that WE hate them!...And in this case, so much so that it's being taught on college campuses...

It's not a far cry for recruiters to say "And that is why we should attack them and kill them now...because they are training their youth to be against us."...

This is the shit that recruits terrorists, but what I'm saying is that the specific terrorists who are going to be recruited because of this that would not have been recruited otherwise (hence the term "marginal cost") are not going to be sufficient enough in number nor effect to make it so that we can't take opportunities they present us to laugh at how fucking stupid they are.

The whole point of terrorism is inspiring disproportionate fear. Come on, if we're talking about people swayed by shit like this we're talking about retards who should be mocked, not feared.

Short term, correct...

But long-term, it's the stuff that ferments anger in their society...

It's not the last straw, but it's another thing that makes "winning hearts and minds" that much further away...

Created by American a-holes...propagated by Islamic radicals...

What a combo...:

Yeah, but this shit only appeals to the retards. This will have a backlash amongst the smart individuals who recognize "There's no fucking way they would actually say that". You can sway retards to believe whatever, if it wasn't this it'd be something else.
