He could have immediately made an Oval Office address demanding that they stop and leave the Capitol and telling anyone listening that had the ability to contact rioters to tell them that Trump insisted that they stop immediately. We know that someone in the White House was in direct contact with rioters in the Capitol and they had the ability to send such a message to the rioters. Trump, however, chose to let the rioting continue.
