the dad was spot on. You do things for other people's benefit and health in our society. Maybe you're more comfortable naked but you don't inflict that on greater society. you may have a relative with cancer or who has an infant; if you have a cold and you don't think masks are effective, you stay away from that person. You certainly would not advocate that children and teachers with colds must attend school without a mask. they mask up or stay home.

So what you are saying is that a mask will protect people around the wearer if the person wearing the mask is coughing and sneezing. Is that correct?

I don't know about you, but when I cough or sneeze in public, I cover my mouth and nose. If I am coughing and sneezing a lot, I most likely have some sort of cold or infection. In that case, I stay out of public.

The issues is that a group of people wish to force people that are asymptomatic (not coughing or sneezing) to wear masks is public. For what purpose? They are not spreading anything if they are not showing symptoms.

Based on what you are saying, we should never again go out in public without a mask on as there are hundreds if not thousands of germs that everyone carries that could infect someone else other than Covid. Is that what you are proposing?

A lot of people don't stay home when they are sick. Besides that people who are not suffering from the flu cough and sneeze.

That is not what I said. Yes I have coughed and sneezed while not sick. I have had a chronic cough for well over 35 years (has to do with nasal drainage). However, when I do cough, I cover my mouth and nose.

The question is, how long do expect that people should be covering their only source for fresh air? Until Covid is completely gone? I have news for you, it will be with us forever and I, nor a lot of other rational people, are going to live the rest of out lives with a diaper over my face. If you feel comfortable living in fear like that, you have that right. Just quit trying to tell the rest of us how to live.
