Default A few broken bones

It has now been 11 days (since Aug. 9) since I stumbled, and broke three ribs--one of these, in three different places--and, to add to it, fractured my left knee.

I say this merely to note that I have, no doubt, gotten to the computer (it is a desktop) less often than in the past. (I am using a walker.)

Still, I try to get here at least once per day; and sometimes it is more.

I will continue to stay in touch as often as possible.

I too have been flat on my back in a hospital with a minor colon cancer. I'm 83, so chances are I'll die of natural causes before the cancer kills me.

You should ask Betty White on a date because you like older women...

OUCH! I hope you heal quickly. That sounds really rough.

Ouchy!
I hope you heal very fast,

Take whatever time you need. Moving helps prevent other problems, but I know it hurts.

Broken ribs aren't a joke, and it's worse when something makes you laugh. Learned that the hard way. Get better soon bro.

It is not only laughing; I have learned that coughing and sneezing are no fun, either.

Sorry to hear that PJ. Were you racing motocross again?

As we get older we need to focus more and more on fitness. Not hard core gym work outs, but we need to work all the muscles in the body.

Talk to your doctor and see if you are capable of getting fit, most likely you are.

People should walk at least 5 miles every day. Not all at one time, but throughout the day. A fitness tracker like Fit Bit is great, I have been using one every day for over 3 years. It also gives you a lot of info on sleep.

The other day I saw a guy do a tandem parachute jump. Turns out that he also made a jump in 1944 behind enemy lines in France. This gentleman did this recent jump on his.....100th birthday. and plans to do it on all his future birthdays.

When asked his secret he said, "keep working your body as hard as you can"

Working your body helps keep all of your internal organs fit too.

The point is, we need to look at all physical exertion as a good thing. Get off the couch, and away from the computer, and work up a sweat.

P.S. My wife uses Wii Fit, she loves it. It has hugely improved her balance, which is a big deal as we age.

Sorry to go off on a tangent, but fitness has been one of the biggest things in my life since I was about 20. At 62 it isn't about working myself to exhaustion, although I sometimes do, it is really all about consistency, do SOMETHING, everyday that gets your heart beating hard, and work up a sweat, our bodies are designed to do that for our entire life.

Get up, Get out, and Get going. It's never too late to start.

Actually, I thought that what I was doing was innocent enough.

I was just walking around the car, to open the door for my wife (who was in the passenger seat).

I then stumbled over one of those concrete slabs--there is probably a name for it; but I am unaware of just what it is--and took a tumble.
