Default The towns and counties around here

I live in Middle Tennessee; and those who do not live here--perhaps have never even been here, passing through--would probably pronounce the names of the counties and towns intuitively.

And they would be mistaken.

For instance, Maury County--one of the larger counties in Middle Tennessee (a bit south of Nashville)--is not pronounced like Maury Povich's first name; rather, it is pronounced like Bill Murray's last name. (Please do not ask me why, as I have no idea.)

And we have a Santa Fe--just as New Mexico does.

But the latter word is not pronounced FAY, as with the New Mexico town. Rather, it is pronounced FEE.

Do you still imagine that you would know how to pronounce the towns and counties around here?

A few miles up the road from my house is a town name Milan, the birthplace of Thomas Edison. However, unlike it's namesake in Italy, it is pronounced locally as my-lan.

I have several, but can only think of 2 right now.
Lima, Ohio.
Those from not around here pronounce it Leema as in Lima, Peru.
It's Lima as in lima bean.
Also Solon, Ohio.
I've heard some pronounce it as "salon".
It's Sow-lun.
