Any homeowner who needs the police to get involved with suspicious activity in his home, needs a severe ass kicking until Kingdom Come, for being so stupid that he cannot gauge and control what goes on in his own home, whether the residents are guests or members of his family.

What about the precious sensitivities of the illegal alien? Three plainclothes officers at the door would surely make them fearful.

Thousands of Bostonians protested the alleged brutal, racist police of black men but now the police are trusted to show up in plainclothes to search homes with the residents permission of course.

This is why its a bad idea. Refusing the search can open the door for those things.

And I am not promoting any of what you typed. All I am saying is that the police are legally allowed to request to search a home. I have no problem if they do that upon suspicion of wrong doings happening either in the home or by a member of the home. That does not however mean that I condone the misuse of their authority to take it beyond that step.
You don't think that will open the door to heavy handed tactics to allow the police to search without a warrant?

I don't think you are understanding what I am saying. The police already are allowed to ask to search your home, car, person if they have a suspicion that you have engaged in some sort of illegal activity. If you get pulled over on the street, the officer may ask if they can search your car. You don't have to allow them to do it, but they still can ask.

How is this any different?

As for abuse of the policy, I believe that will exist with or without this program. I personally would not want the police searching through my home and would most likely demand that they go get a warrant. But I am not everybody else. I can imagine a frail mother of a teenage thug welcoming the police into their home when they have come to their wits end with their unruly teenager.

Could it lead to abuse? I'm sure it could, but there are many other things that the authorities have in their playbook that can be abused. The solution is that when abuse is identified, it needs to be dealt with in severe fashion. But to jump to abuse and corruption with every initiative to remove the worst of our society from the streets, is wanting a safe community without giving the police the tools they need to provide it. As long as those tools don't violate the Constitution, I have no problem with them.

New Jersey is a cesspool and should be avoided at all costs. Part of the reason for that is the fact that the Democrats have been in power in that state for all practical purposes, for decades. I have friends in Philadelphia (not known for ethics in Government) that joke that compared to New Jersey, Philadelphia politicians are choir boys.

I'm trying to remember which poster on this forum tried to say that Democrats don't want to take your guns. Well here is another example of Democrats doing everything they can to do it.

Being Jersey born and bred for 28 years of my life, I think that Jersey has finally reached the bottom of the political cesspool. It wasn't always that way, but it certainly is now.

The whole tri-state area has become a frothing hot bed of liberal politicians wanting to rework laws and constitutional rights to suit their beliefs, regardless of how the law came about or who it impacts.

But isn't it really about what they say, and not what they do?......
