Default Walmart Facing Boycott Threats Over 'Impeach 45' Shirt

Hey look!...Another "mistake" that conveniently politically goes the same way as every other "mistake" made by companies/shows/news media....

I bet Wal*Mart will go for the 'ol "We use outside sources for that stuff! Don't blame us for not overseeing it!"...

Walmart Facing Boycott Threats Over 'Impeach 45' Shirt

Quote:
Walmart is once again under fire for a shirt available on its Website.

The retailer (WMT, +0.52%) is facing calls for a boycott after supporters of President Donald Trump discovered a shirt for sale reading “Impeach 45“.

The shirts, seemingly discovered by the chairman of the group Students for Trump, are one of a number of “Impeach 45” offerings, which range from sweatshirts to baby clothes from a wide variety of manufacturers. The company also sells a wide range of pro-Trump merchandise, including a substantial number of “Make America Great Again” hats.

News of the shirt prompted a #BoycottWalmart movement on Twitter and social media, with a large number of supporters jumping in.

The call for a Walmart boycott seemingly picked up steam as conservative media outlets spread the word about the shirts.
I'm sure the defense will be "They sell positive stuff for Trump, so this is okay"...

...as of there were anti-Obama stuff sold along with the pro-Obama stuff they still sell...

It is their fault for not overseeing it. Walmart caught hot water last year for a much worse shirt.

My question is why does anti-Trump gear constitute a evidence of a store's bias, but pro-Trump stuff sold by the same place somehow doesn't.

Or is this just tribalist hot air from the MAGA flock?

Positive versus negative messaging...

A shirt saying "Let's respect each other"...

A shirt saying "Let's destroy each other"...

AND as I said in the OP, I don't quite remember the anti-Obama messaging being sold next to the pro-Obama stuff (which the Right didn't boycott because there was no reason to)...

Among other items sold at wal-mart for some time now...

So should all the positive stuff wal-mart sells with Obama's mug on it be considered completely and absolutely irrelevant, and never be mentioned? Even contextually?
Should wal-mart have been boycotted by the left and the Obama-bots long ago?

---sarcasm alert--------
I understand that Wal-mart, Barnes & Nobles and other stores sell BOOKS that trash Obama and Trump TOO!!!!
So boycotting them makes even MORE sense. NO business should Sell anything that criticizes any president. It's WRONG. and obviously BIASED. And it Hurts snowflakes feeling to see it in the stores. People shouldn't think they can just make political statements in "the land of the free" without SERIOUS financial repercussions.
yaknow what!! Maybe it should be made illegal even!!!!!!!

I don't get it. What's the big deal here.

Boycott Wal-Mart? Why.

Right wingers who demand pulling this shirt are the same ones claiming the left is intolerant.

Let them sell what ever people will buy. The fault, if there is one, would be in the people who would buy this shirt. Or any shirt making a political statement. But then if Wal-Mart cannot merchandise political stuff, who can?

Be offended, and get over it.

Technically the shirt is sold by another company, it's just being sold on the WalMart website.

But, you are absolutely correct.
It ain't a big deal, it's a darn shirt.
Maybe we should change the song lyric to "Land of the free and home of the offended".

I keep hearing that. So what???

WHY does it matter?

Wal-Mart buys the shirt to sell it, same as a washing machine, a mattres, or Tide soap.

Just as Walmart has the right to sell any legal product, customers have the right to vote with their wallets, by not supporting a company that sells something they find objectionable. That's why.
