Default Google snubbed Easter with no doodle for 18th year in a row, Christians say

Once again Google doesn't do a doodle on their front page for Easter. They toss up a doodle for all kinds or irrelevant crap throughout the year but can't recognize Easter?

Made this thread so we can post what dumb-fuq crap Google does honor and recognize with a doodle throughout the year.

Google snubbed Easter with no doodle for 18th year in a row, Christians say

ITT: people getting butthurt over no Google doodle, for a holiday they haven't doodled on since 2000. Dat Christian persecution complex tho.

Of course by "Christian", I mean James Woods and his small merry band of Twitter randos.

Most people, most Christians, don't care. Pretty sure 99% of them went through the day without even thinking about it.

you're half right.
I didn't think about google on Easter, I suspect most people didn't either.
But I do care. It shows an anti Christian bias at Google that's weird and unsettling.

For an international company that in some ways controls information on the internet, tracks people internet use and works with the US. gov't to have a serious, even passive, hostility to Christianity/Christians ...or any group or ism... is disturbing.

Its bizarre in the sense that most companies don't go out of their way to 'dis' a large group of people that use their services.
If it were McDonald's it wouldn't be as big of a deal. Many Christians would simply avoid McDonalds. Or make stink in other ways. But it's nearly impossible to escape google or to even know what else they are doing that is passively or aggressively anti-Christian.

Two points...

1) This isn't done in a vacuum...This is just another small example in an ongoing list of hundreds, if not thousands, of little paper cuts against Christianity...

Another example is Facebook just taking down a church's picture of the crucifixion due to violence...

Facebook under fire for rejecting ad showing Jesus crucified to the cross because it's 'shocking and excessively violent'

2) Google would be in good standing if they were consistent and refused doodles of ALL religions...But nooooooo...

They specifically choose...

‘Google Doodle’ marks 888th birthday of Muslim philosopher Averroes

For the 18th year, GOOGLE snubs Easter and refuses to put up a Doodle recognizing the holiday as they do each year for Muslim holidays

Quote:
2018 marks the 18th year in a row that the Google company has intentionally ignored the Easter holiday. The last time they recognized it was back in the year 2000. Once again, Google couldn’t be bothered to produce one of their famed “Google Doodles” featured on the Google main page to honor Easter. But they have an entire page of Doodles dedicated to the Islamic festival of Ramadan.

Google Doodles replace the typical graphic that Google features on their page displaying their company’s name with a clever graphic honoring a holiday or special event. Some are just a cute or interesting rendering that changes the letters to be in some way relevant to the special day in question, but some are quite ambitious and feature animations or even games for the user to participate in.

But now, for the 19th year in a row, Google has snubbed the Easter holiday by failing to feature even a simple graphic to acknowledge the holiday. Google featured an Easter Doodle only once, in 2000, two years after the company started in 1998.

Google is not consistent when it comes to behaving in an areligious manner, either. Their distinctions do not seem to be based on whether the holiday is religious or not. In other words, Easter is not omitted as a Google Doodle because of its origins as a religious holiday — Google is not consistent because it features other important holidays from non-Christian religions as Google Doodles.

For example, Google celebrates the Jewish festival of Tu B’av every year. Google also celebrates the Hindu festival, Holi. But Google routinely snubbing Easter seems intentional, since it is such a large and culturally important holiday for Christians everywhere.

They had plenty of time to do it.
